State Police are attempting to locate 15 year old Sierra Foley of Sauquoit and 16 year old Paige Roberts of Marcy. Both teens were last seen together on the evening of October 21, 2025, at Sierra’s residence in Oneida County. They are believed to be traveling in an unknown vehicle, Police believe they may be traveling to New York City or Pennsylvania. Paige Roberts is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, 150 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing gray sweatpants and a gray sweatshirt, Sierra Foley is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, 110 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes, wearing red sweatpants and a red sweatshirt. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45 year old Derek Jordan of Milford, 45 year old Keith Blush of Milford & 30 year old Ashley Goble of Milford, on a variety of drug & weapons charges, following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Otsego County Probation Department. On October 9th, Otsego County probation Officers & Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Derek Jordan, who was taken in to custody on traffic offenses, During a search of Jordan’s residence, Blush and Goble were inside the residence, they were wanted by State Police and the New Hartford Police Departments on warrants. Officers observed a firearm, drugs and drug paraphernalia, Jordan and Blush were processed and turned over to the Otsego County Correctional Facility for arraignment, Goble was issued an Appearance Ticket to the Town of Milford Court, and she was turned over to New Hartford Police Officers. The investigation is on-going and additional charges are pending.

New York Secretary of State Walter Mosley announced the groundbreaking of a $8.3 million boutique hotel in Norwich as part of the City’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative . The Principle Hotel will have 61 rooms and feature a rooftop lounge, restaurant and event room, The 12,000 square-foot property at 14-16 South Broad Street, was once part of the SUNY Morrisville campus. In addition to the hotel, other DRI projects in Norwich include the Rehabilitation of the Unguentine Building, Improve East and West parks: Upgrade the Martin W. Kappel Theater, Enhance the American Avenue Streetscape & Rehabilitate the Heritage Building.

The New York State Department of Health today released a new report showing a continued decline in tobacco use among high school students across the state. The report, shows that 1 in 6 Youth Still Use Tobacco, the lowest since tracking began in 2000. Cigarette smoking remains low, with just over 2% of students reporting current use, E-cigarette use has declined sharply to about 13%, however, Nicotine pouch use is rising, doubling from 1.5% to 3.0% since 2022.

Governor Kathy Hochul & State Police Superintendent Steven James honored 238 new State Troopers as they graduated Wednesday from the 217th session of the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy. The ceremony was held at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. Today’s graduation increases the State Police ranks to approximately 5,110 sworn members, about 60 of the new troopers were assigned to Troop C in Sidney.

On October 16 at 10:48 p.m., Otsego County requested Forest Ranger assistance in the search for a hunter reported missing by his spouse. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, Otsego County Emergency Services, Garratsville Fire Department, Laurens Fire Department, New York State Police, and New York State Park Police and staff all joined the search efforts in Gilbert Lake State Park. Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputy’s located the 67-year-old from Remsen deceased in a tree stand. Rangers used a rope system to help extricate the subject and turned them over to the county coroner, the cause of death has not been released.

State Forest Rangers assisted with Vestal Police and emergency crews in the Town of Vestal on October 15th in the search for a 86-year-old Janice Short, who was reported missing the previous afternoon. Short was known to go for walks on Tracy Creek Road. Vestal Police used a drone with heat detection capability and deployed a K9 unit with negative results. Rangers assigned linear searches of the roads and Tracy Creek, a neighbor found Short behind his house calling for help, after she had fallen into a bush, hurt her back, and saw the lights from searchers, but wasn’t strong enough or loud enough for them to hear. Rangers and Vestal Fire Department members carried the subject, she was checked out & was returned to family.

Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced the arrest of 51 year old David Gensler of Delhi, for Use of a Child less than 17 Years of Age in a Sexual Performance, Disseminating Indecent Materials to Minors, Luring a Child into a Vehicle/Building to Commit a Crime, and Disseminating Indecent Materials to Minors as a Sexually Motivated Felony. A felony preliminary hearing was held in the Town of Delhi Court on Monday, Gensler was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail, pending action of the Grand Jury. Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36 year old Cody Borawa of Afton for Criminal Contempt and Stalking, for allegedly attempting to contact and interact with the victim through fake social media accounts despite an active full stay away Order of Protection stemming from a similar arrest in February. Borawa was released on an appearance ticket for the above charges and is to appear in the Town of Afton Court at a later date.

State Police arrested 34 year old Christopher Moynihan of Clinton for threatening to kill House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Moynihan was pardoned for his role in the January 6th 2020 insurrection in Washington, Moynihan was arrested Saturday and charged with making a terroristic threat, he was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.

21 year Skylar Clement was sentenced to 15 years in state prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision, for attempted murder and assault, in Otsego County Court Monday. Clement struck a person with his car, at about 40 miles an hour, in July 2024 in the Town of Butternuts, causing serious damage to the victim’s leg, Clement left the scene, State Police located him & took him into custody. The incident caused serious damage to the victim’s leg.

Bradley Law of Harpursville has officially been granted parole, following a recent hearing by the State Parole Board, he was convicted of criminal possession of a firearm and attempted leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident after striking & killing 13-year-old Brennan Loveless while he was riding a bicycle in Sanitaria Springs on January 1st, 2023, and for fleeing the scene, Law also reported that he hit a deer with his truck the next day to cover up the damage to his truck from the Loveless incident. Law was also charged following an unrelated domestic dispute, he was sentenced to 2 2/3 to to 8 years in prison, and will be released to parole supervision in January.

A Trial of 3 former State Corrections officer accused of participating in the killing of Robert Brooks last December in the Marcy Correctional Facility concluded today. David Kingsley was found guilty of 2nd degree murder & 1st degree Manslaughter, however Nicholas Kieffer & Matthew Galliher were was found not guilty for Murder, Manslaughter, Gang Assault, Kinglsey faces sentencing on December 15th, He faces 25 years to life in prison.

Oneonta officials announced that crews will be working overnight from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM to complete paving and striping on the roundabout project. Closures will continue for portions of Route 7, Route 23, plus Maple & Pine Streets, Traffic will be detoured on side streets, and the intersection will reopen during the day in the Phase II traffic pattern. A Delaware County Grand Jury returned a 29 count indictment against 38 year old Jeffrey Emerich of Downsville, for 26 counts of Sexual Abuse, & 3 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for allegedly subjecting several minors to sexual conduct by forcible compulsion between 2020 to 2025. The DA’s office will not be releasing the identity of the minor victims.

Former Mid State Correctional Facility Officer Francis Chandler, accepted a plea deal in Oneida County Court Thursday, in connection with the death of inmate Messiah Nantwi in March. Chandler was originally charged with manslaughter, he pleaded guilty to gang assault in exchange for a 4-year prison sentence, when sentenced in January.

The Town of Colchester Police Department arrested 3 individuals following an investigation into a series of burglaries and larcenies. 21 year old Donavin Brock of Colchester was charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Conspiracy, Criminal Mischief, & Aggravated Harassment, 18 year old Tenlei Wood of Walton, was charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, & Conspiracy and 40 year old Brooke Walley of Andes, was charged with Burglary, following the investigation by the Town of Colchester Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office into multiple incidents involving stolen property, unlawful entry, and related crimes throughout the community. The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be pending, the State Police Forensic Identification Unit assisted in the processing of the crime scenes.

Stephen Filan pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon, stemming from the illegal possession of an assault rifle and related firearm components. On May 19th, Binghamton Police responded to a report of Filan in possession of a firearm, he was uncooperative, officers secured a search warrant and an Extreme Risk Protection Order to search Filan’s residence, which resulted in the recovery of a loaded, operable assault rifle with a 25-round magazine holding 24 rounds. Sentencing is scheduled for January 15, 2026 in Broome County Court, Filan will be sentenced to 6 years in State Prison followed by 5 years of Post Release Supervision.

State tax receipts totaled $59.9 billion through September, the middle of State Fiscal Year, $702.2 million higher than financial plan estimates from the Division of Budget, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 48 year old Brad McAdams of Downsville for DWI, on October 3rd. Deputies were patrolling in the Town of Colchester when they observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane, they also discovered that McAdams had a suspended driver’s license. Deputies conducted a traffic stop, McAdams was taken into custody, a vehicle search uncovered a large quantity of cocaine. McAdams was additionally charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, and several violations, plus Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await Arraignment.

The State DEC announced the next round of the Municipal Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Grant program and the Municipal ZEV Rebate program are now open for applications. A total of $5 million will be available for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and $585,000 for municipalities to purchase electric vehicles for fleet use. A total of $5 million is available on a first-come, first-served basis to support the installation of Level 2 and Level 3 electric vehicle chargers, the DEC is accepting applications through February 27, 2026, more information is available at dec.ny.gov.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 2-car accident on County Highway 26, 20 year old Tonia Massaquoi of Oneonta was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to stop at the stop sign, she was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Unsafe Speed, Failure to Yield the Right of Way, Fail to Stop at a Stop Sign and Disobeying a Traffic Control Device, she was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear at the Town of Hamden Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an assault in progress in the Town of Walton, Prior to arrival Deputies learned that the suspect 41-year-old Jeremy Stafford was wanted on a warrant from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies found that Stafford engaged in a physical altercation in front of 2 children, he was charged with 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, he was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Walton Court at a later date, he was turned over to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office on their arrest warrant.

37 year old Donald Beetlestone of Binghamton pleaded guilty in Broome County Court to a sexually motivated felony of to Attempted Kidnapping, stemming from a violent attempted abduction of an 8-year-old child on August 1st, at the Price Chopper in Binghamton. Beetlestone assaulted the child and began dragging her through the store, in order to further assault her, the attack was interrupted by a store manager and shoppers. Beetlestone was subdued and restrained until Binghamton Police officers arrived and took him into custody. Beetlestone will receive a sentence of 10 years in state prison, followed by 10 years of post-release supervision, he will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release. Beetlestone is scheduled to be sentenced on January 14th in Broome County Court.

State Police arrested 28 year old Austin Darrow of New Milford, Pennsylvania, for Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle. On October 4th, a Trooper observed a sedan following a vehicle too close on I-81 and then fail to stop at a stop sign at 2 locations, when the Trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the operator took off at a high rate of speed, into the state of Pennsylvania. With the assistance of Pennsylvania State Police, Troopers were able to locate Darrow, he turned himself in at the Binghamton Barracks and he was issued traffic tickets and an appearance ticket to the Kirkwood Town Court on November 5th.

The project calls for an $80 million, 4-story facility featuring medical services like primary care, specialty care, physical therapy, and lab services to a single location. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
