AN ENDICOTT MAN WAS ARRESTED FOLLOWING A BANK ROBBERY YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT THE NBT BANK BRANCH ON ROBINSON STREET IN BINGHAMTON. 24 YEAR OLD NYQUAN WILLIAMS WAS CHARGED WITH ROBBERY IN THE FIRST DEGREE AND CRIMINAL USE OF A FIREARM. WILLIAMS WAS SPOTTED RIDING A BICYCLE AND AFTER A BRIEF STRUGGLE, HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. OFFICERS RECOVERED 60 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH AND A LOADED HANDGUN. POLICE THEN EXECUTED A SEARCH WARRANT AT WILLIAM’S RESIDENCE AND FOUND SEVERAL PIECES OF EVIDENCE RELATED TO A JULY 2ND BANK ROBBERY AT THE NBT BANK BRANCH IN JOHNSON CITY. JOHNSON CITY POLICE HAVE CHARGED HIM WITH ROBBERY IN THE FIRST DEGREE AND CRIMINAL USE OF A FIREARM IN THAT JULY BANK ROBBERY. IN TOTAL, WILLIAMS IS FACING FIVE CHARGES. POLICE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING BOTH BANK ROBBERIES.

A BILL TO REPLACE THE WORD “INMATE” WITH “INCARCERATED INDIVIDUAL” WAS JUST SIGNED INTO LAW BY GOVERNOR CUOMO. THE BILL PASSED THE NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY AND SENATE WITH BIPARTISAN SUPPORT IN JUNE. THE LAWMAKERS WHO WROTE THE BILL CLAIM THAT THE WORD “INMATE” PERMANENTLY DEMONIZED AND STIGMATIZED AN INDIVIDUAL. THE NEW LAW TAKES EFFECT IMMEDIATELY.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR SIDNEY SCHOOL DISTRICT CHILDREN. CHILDREN MUST BE 5 YEARS OLD ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 1ST 2021 TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR KINDERGARTEN THIS YEAR. A FORMER POSTAL EMPLOYEE WAS SENTENCED TO 18 MONTHS AND ORDERED TO PAY A$1,000 FINE WEDNESDAY AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO DUMPING MAIL INSTEAD OF DELIVERING IT. 25 YEAR OLD TANNER BROWN FROM COBLESKILL. BROWN ADMITTED TO INTENTIONALLY DUMPING OVER 5800 PIECES OF MAIL IN A FIELD AND WOODED AREA IN SHARON SPRINGS WHILE WORKING AS A POSTAL CARRIER IN 2019. HE WAS ALSO ORDERED TO SERVE 100 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE.

A DELHI WOMAN IS FACING A NUMBER OF CHARGES STEMMING FROM A SERIES OF INCIDENTS TUESDAY MORNING . 50 YEAR OLD ROBIN REESE IS ACCUSED OF CALLING 911 TO REPORT AN INDIVIDUAL BANGING ON AN APARTMENT DOOR AND ACTIVATING A FIRE ALARM AT PHOEBE LANE APARTMENTS IN DELHI. SHE THEN LEFT THAT LOCATION IN A VEHICLE BEFORE BEING STOPPED BY SUNY DELHI POLICE. UPON THE CONCLUSION OF THEIR INVESTIGATION, SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES DETERMINED THAT REESE’S DRIVERS LICENSE WAS REVOKED IN 2018 AS A RESULT OF A DWI CONVICTION. SHE WAS CHARGED WITH FELONY FALSELY REPORTING AN INCIDENT, AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, IMPROPER LICENSE PLATES AND FAILURE TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN, AMONG OTHER CHARGES. REESE WAS RELEASED ON AN APPEARANCE TICKET FOR TOWN OF DELHI COURT.

IN LIGHT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S REPORT ON GOVERNOR CUOMO, A DOWNSTATE ASSEMBLYMAN IS URGING ASSEMBLY COLLEAGUES TO JOIN HIM ON 2 PIECES OF LEGISLATION. ASSEMBLYMAN MIKE LAWLER FROM ROCKLAND COUNTY WANTS TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE MARIO M. CUOMO BRIDGE BACK TO THE TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE. AND HIS SECOND PIECE OF LEGISLATION WOULD ESTABLISH CRIMINAL PENALTIES FOR RETALIATION AGAINST STATE EMPLOYEES.

IN NEW YORK STATE COVID NEWS, THERE WERE 121,000 COVID TESTS ADMINISTERED TUESDAY WITH 3100 POSITIVE RESULTS. 902 PATIENTS ARE HOSPITALIZED STATEWIDE AND 7 PEOPLE DIED FROM COVID . NEARLY 43,000 VACCINE DOSES WERE ADMINISTERED STATEWIDE TUESDAY.

Chenango Sheriff’s office arrested a Village of Sherburne man for Rape in the First Degree and Rape in the Third Degree. The Detectives Division arrested Jason L. Fowlston, age 44 of the Village of Sherburne for multiple counts of Rape in the First Degree and Rape in the Third Degree. The arrest stemmed from acomplaint received involving an alleged forcible rape of a person under the age of 17 multiple times, over the course of several months. Fowlston is currently at the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office awaiting arraignment.
The City of Oneonta will continue work on the catch basin replacement near the exit of the City Hall parking lot on South Main St through Friday, August 6th. Work will begin around 7:00am and conclude by 3:30pm. South Main St will be closed to local traffic only. Please use caution and obey all temporary traffic control devices.
