State Police at Troop C in Sidney held their annual Memorial Service, a day to remember those who served, especially those who gave their lives in the line of duty, Troop C Commanding Officer Major Lucas Shuta Comments:

Major Shuta also reminded motorists that there will be extra traffic on the roads this Memorial Day Weekend, and there will be extra patrols making sure every arrives to their destinations safely:

State Police and other Law Enforcement agencies will be looking for intoxicated drivers, distracted drivers, and those violating the state’s Move Over Laws, Construction will be suspended during the Memorial day Weekend, except in the case of an emergency.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame Military Classic will be held Saturday, at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown. Seven Hall of Famers and 25 big league stars will participate in the seven-inning legends game during Memorial Day Weekend festivities that will honor baseball’s longstanding connection to the military. The activities begin when gates open at 11 am., and the pregame home run hitting contest will begin at noon, followed by the 1 pm. game. An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in Sidney Saturday from 10:00AM to 2:00 PM at the Community Cultural Center at 1 Bridge Street. Appointments can be made at redcrossblood.org, 1-800 Red Cross or with the Blood Donor App. The Blood Drive is dedicated to the memory of Madisyn Oakes, a Bainbridge Guilford Student who passed away in a car crash at 17 years of age on April 20, 2025.

General Clinton Canoe Regatta gets underway today through Sunday with attractions at General Clinton Park, according to co-chairman Mike Kaufman:

Fenimore Art Museum on State Route 80 in Cooperstown features a major exhibition beginning May 23rd. The Linda McCartney Retrospective: From the Light, which offers a look at the life and work of Linda McCartney, Director of Exhibits Julia Madore explains:
