Binghamton police are investigating the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Tyquan Gumbs at 10 Fayette Street in the city Friday night. Gumbs was found at the rear of the building, anyone with information is asked to contact the Police Department at 772-7080.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 25-year-old James Blount of Walton, Friday on charges of failure to keep right, unsafe lane change, unlicensed operator, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, following an investigation of a 1-car accident in the Town of Franklin. Blount was later released on tickets returnable to Franklin Town Court at a later date.

The Animal Adventure in the town of Colesville named their calf this morning, following the end of voting at midnight Sunday. People who have followed the tail end of April the Giraffe’s pregnancy voted, and decided to let Alyssa Swilley, the Lead Zoologist at Animal Adventure, pick the baby boy Giraffe’s name, it was announced by their live stream that “Tajiri” was the name that was chosen, it is Swahili for “Hope”. Animal Adventure’s 5th season opens on May 13th.

Governor Cuomo announced that $3 million is available for individuals with serious health issues to receive assistance to purchase air conditioners. Federal funding secured by the state will help New Yorkers with health issues that may be aggravated by extreme heat, Individuals eligible for assistance can apply at their local department of social services beginning today. Last summer, nearly 5,000 households received assistance. applicants must meet existing HEAP income guidelines, Local departments of social services will accept applications through August 31, or until funding runs out.

New York State is giving more than $1 million dollars to a group of farmers, in an effort to boost the state’s Grown & Certified program. The Money is available through the Environmental Protection Fund & will be split up among 29 farms, the program was set up to assure customers that they were purchasing food from local farmers.

3 people were arrested following a stabbing early Friday on Birdsall Street in Norwich. Norwich Police Department and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office found the victim who was stabbed during a fight; he was treated at Chenango Memorial Hospital & released. Arrested were 36-year-old Eric Carpenter for 2nd degree Assault & Criminal possession of a weapon, 22-year-old Brandon Parker, for Tampering with physical evidence, & 21-year-old Russell Button for Tampering with physical evidence. All three were arraigned in Norwich City Court, Carpenter was sent to the Chenango County Jail on $25,000 cash bail. Parker and Button were each sent to the jail on $3,000 cash bail. All will reappear in Norwich City Court today.

36-year-old Danielle Dunham of Morris was arrested for allegedly bringing drugs into the Otsego County Jail. Dunham was charged with Introducing Dangerous Contraband into Prison, Possessing Dangerous Contraband in Prison & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, for possessing Suboxone as she was being brought to the jail on a previous charge. Dunham was arraigned in the Town of Otsego Court and is being held at the Otsego County Jail on $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond, pending court action on May 17th.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies have rescheduled their Prevention Night for tonight. No alcohol will be served during the Rumble Ponies’ game this evening, as they have teamed up with the Broome Opioid Abuse Council Drug Free Communities for the event. Tickets for last Wednesday’s game will be honored tonight when The Rumble Ponies host the Akron Rubber Ducks at 6:35 PM.
