79 year old Stanley Suchy of Stamford, was sentenced to 10 years of incarceration and 20 years of post-release supervision in Delaware County Court Tuesday. Suchy had pleaded guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child, He was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to begin his sentence.

The General Clinton Canoe Regatta committee has decided to try GPS monitoring systems on some of the Canoes this year, as a way for fans and officials to keep track of racers, co-chairman Mike Kaufman explains:

Kaufman said that if it proves to be successful, they may plan to expand the use of GPS in future years. The Regatta will be held over the Memorial Day weekend this year.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is suing Coinbase and Gemini, 2 of the newest players in the prediction market industry, arguing that the companies’ unregulated and unlicensed platforms are illegal gambling operations. By operating without licenses, the lawsuit says, Coinbase’s and Gemini’s prediction market businesses aren’t paying the same taxes as licensed casinos and mobile sports-books, which are taxed by the state at a rate of approximately 51% of gross revenues. The lawsuit also claims that Coinbase and Gemini allow users as young as 18, the state law prohibits wagering by anyone under 21. The lawsuit seeks to bar the companies’ platforms from operating in the state unless and until they obtain licenses from the state Gaming Commission.

State Troopers initiated a traffic stop Sunday on a vehicle for moving unsafely from its lane. Troopers observed a pill container in the vehicle driven by 43 year old Adam Morley of Deposit, the contents was later identified as oxycodone. Troopers also discovered methamphetamine and a pump action shotgun that had been reported stolen in South Carolina. Morley was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and the passenger, 27 year old Taylor Fineout of Hancock, was found in possession of a 30-round illegal high-capacity ammunition magazine, as well as methamphetamine, he was charged with Unlawful Possession of an Ammunition Feeding Device, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Both individuals were processed and were released on appearance tickets for Deposit Town Court on May 4.

Delaware County Public Health is hosting free Climate and Health Workshops at the Delaware County Senior Dining Centers. Participants will learn how changes to the climate can impact their health and ways to prepare for emergencies. These workshops are free and open to residents 60 years and older. Each workshop will take place during the senior dining program lunch hour from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM, each participant will receive a starter emergency preparedness kit. Workshops will be held today at Grand Gorge Civic Center, Thursday at the Sidney Civic Center Room, Friday in Walton at the St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, others are planned in May & July.
