The 2025 Special Olympics New York State Winter Games will return to Rochester, this coming Friday & Saturday. Approximately 900 athletes and coaches from throughout the state will compete in 7 sports: Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Figure Skating, Floorball, Gymnastics, Snowboarding and Snowshoe. The State Office of Cannabis Management announced that over 300 licensed adult-use cannabis dispensaries are open for business. Since launching legal sales in December 2022, New York’s cannabis industry has generated over $1.06 billion in total retail sales, created more than 5,000 jobs statewide, One month into 2025, retail sales have exceeded $110 million, with dispensaries averaging $381,000 in monthly sales throughout 2024. State Police have reported whiteout conditions in the Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks today, Police responded to a multiple vehicle crash on the State Thruway between Little Falls & Herkimer, will all of the westbound lanes blocked, they suggest that people that must travel in those regions of the state to drive with extreme caution. The State Department of Motor Vehicles helped consumers recover more than $11 million in stolen vehicles, stolen parts, services and lost titles, in 2024. Last year, the DMV recovered 303 stolen vehicles — valued at $8,353,334 at the time of their theft — and $91,979 in stolen parts. DMV officials have warned consumers about the dangers of car sales scams through online sites like Facebook Marketplace, and reminded car buyers to be vigilant when purchasing a vehicle online.

State Police announced they are changing the appearance of their cruisers to gray with a gold stripe. The new cars will slowly be phased in; people can expect to wait until 2026 to see the new gray trooper vehicles being phased into the lineup.
