The Norwich Fire Department responded at about 5:00 AM This Morning to a blaze at 104 Mitchell Street, with reports of occupants jumping out of the building. Norwich Police arrived & discovered the 2 victims outside the structure, EMT ‘s arrived & transported the victims to the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for burns & injuries, Norwich received assistance from Sherburne & Oxford fire departments, the investigation listed the cause as accidental caused by a chimney fire that extended through the home from an operating coal stove, there were no functioning smoke detectors , no firefighters were injured.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26 year old Devin Sanchez of New York Mills for Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Ghost Gun, Harassment & Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, following a physical domestic dispute in the Town of Pittsfield. Sanchez is accused of obstructing the victims breathing by restraining by the neck during the dispute, he is also accused of shoving the victim into a wall & he was also found to possess an unregistered/unserialized ghost gun. Sanchez was taken into custody and was held at the Otsego County Jail pending Arraignment.

33 year old Wayne Cirigliano of Sidney, pleaded guilty to 1 count each of Criminal Mischief and Bail Jumping, in Village of Sidney Court, he was sentenced to 5 months’ incarceration for the Criminal Mischief and 5 months’ incarceration for Bail Jumping, the sentences will run concurrently. Cirigliano was ordered to pay $200 in restitution for damage caused at Circle Drive Apartments in Sidney, plus he was also assessed $255 in fines and fees. Last November, Cirigliano damaged property at the Circle Drive Apartments by pushing in a window air conditioning unit and discharging a fire extinguisher into the residence, & on to their vehicle.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 46 year old Lloyd Davis of Worcester, for Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, 1st & 2nd degree Rape, Sexual Abuse & Endangering the Welfare of a Child, following an investigation of persistent abuse, which revealed that Davis allegedly subjected minors to physical and sexual abuse over the course of several years. Davis was taken into custody without incident. A search warrant was executed at the residence and evidence was secured. Additional search warrants were executed at a location in the Town of Maryland where additional evidence was located. Davis was processed, arraigned & was remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility without bail.

State Police responded Friday night to a 1-vehicle crash on County Highway 22, in the town of Richfield Springs. 29-year-old Ashley Faubert of Ilion left the roadway and struck a tree. Residents attempted to assist her, including an EMT who initiated CPR until Otsego EMS arrived to transport Faubert to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, where she was later pronounced deceased. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

The New York State Police remind motorists that distracted driving remains to be a top cause of roadway collisions and creates serious danger to first responders and the public, they must also obey the state’s “Move Over” Law, on Sunday on Long Island , a distracted driver crashed into the rear of a State Police patrol car after troopers responded to an MVA on the Southern State Parkway, the patrol vehicle was crashed into by an inattentive driver, both the driver & the trooper were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
