State Police at Oneonta are investigating the deaths of 44-year-old TIFANNE WELLS & 51-year-old GEORGE JONES at a residence on County Highway 47 in the Town of Oneonta. Otsego County 911 received a call to check the welfare from a concerned party, Troopers responded to the residence at approximately 8:30 Sunday Morning and located both subjects deceased, outside of the residence. Autopsies were scheduled to be conducted at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, the investigation is ongoing.

State Police have arrested 2 suspects in connection with the February 23rd robbery of the Xtra-Mart gas station on State Route 12, in the Town of Chenango. 20-year-old Cody McNeilly & 42 year old Jennifer Finn, both of Binghamton, has been charged with 1st degree Robbery. McNeilly and Finn were arraigned in Chenango Town court and were remanded to the Broome County Jail pending Grand Jury action.

P.M. NEWS FRIDAY 3-6-15

This weekend, clocks get pushed ahead 1 hour as part of Daylight Savings Time, & the Firemen’s Association of New York urges all New Yorkers to check their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to ensure that they are functioning properly. the Association recommends cleaning all alarms to remove any debris that might impede their function and to change batteries. They also recommend testing alarms monthly, vacuum or blow out any dust that might accumulate in the unit, & never paint a smoke or Carbon monoxide alarm. On Sunday, Governor Cuomo will host the 2015 Adirondack Winter Challenge at the Olympic facility in Lake Placid. The day trip will sample a variety of winter activities the Adirondack region has to offer, including skiing, bobsledding and a variety of ice sports, and conclude with a dinner and presentation of awards. Winter activities will take place between 12:30 PM and 4:00 PM.

Governor Cuomo announced the return of the Craft New York Brewers Festival to the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany tomorrow. 41 craft brewers from across the state will be offering more than 100 beers to sample and pair with food from more than a dozen restaurants. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that his office is offering tips to consumers for using crowdfunding websites such as GoFundMe, to make charitable and other donations. The sites, which allow users to post fundraising solicitations and receive donations, are changing how individuals raise and donate funds. Assembly Minority Republicans announced a package of reforms to create greater transparency and accountability in the Assembly. Area Assemblyman Pete Lopez comments:

Proposals include enacting 8 year term limits for Legislative Leaders, committee chairmen & Assembly Speaker; televise standing committee meetings, record all committee meetings on the Assembly website; and Allow each member of the Assembly to have at least one substantive issue-based bill moved from committee and brought to the Assembly floor for a vote per legislative cycle.

The Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery announced the completion of 16 recovery and resiliency plans developed by storm-impacted communities across the State as part of Round II of the NY Rising Reconstruction Program. The State committed more than $64 million to support eligible resiliency projects. Locally, the Town of Chenango will get $3 million in funding for projects that local leaders deemed necessary for recovery efforts. More information can be found at stormrecovery.ny.gov.

State Senator Jim Seward & a bipartisan group of 114 state legislators, along with county and town highway superintendents from across the state to call for increased state funding for local highway improvements.

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will award the recipients of the 2015 Annual Celebration of Business Awards tonight. The NBT Bank Distinguished Business of the Year goes to The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Carol Blazina is recognized as the Eugene A. Bettiol, Jr. Distinguished Citizen. P.M. NEWS WEDNESDAY 3-4-15

Governor Cuomo announced that 11 more businesses plan to expand in or locate to New York State under the START-UP NY program. The businesses will invest nearly $30 million, creating 158 new jobs over the next 5 years in tax-free areas sponsored by State university schools. Morrisville State College will have 54 new jobs that will be created by Empire Farmstead Brewery at a microbrewery where beer will be manufactured for regional and international distribution. Also at Morrisville, K16 Corporation is a new technology device and software development firm focused on developing technology based solutions in teaching methods. K16 will be locating to on-campus space in Morrisville and create two net new jobs while investing $10,000.

State lawmakers are working toward getting a state budget together by the April 1st deadline, in spite of the governor’s acknowledgment that a budget might be late if ethics reforms are not passed. Area assemblyman bill Magee comments:

Magee also said that Governor Cuomo proposed cuts to some agricultural programs, that they hope to have restored in the final budget plan.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that since January 2011, his office has helped over 17,000 people successfully resolve their consumer complaints, totaling over $13.5 million in refunds and other relief for over 12,000 of those consumers. The largest number of complaints deals with the Automobile industry, followed by Credit and Identity Theft issues, the Service Industries, Utilities and Landlord/Tenant complaints. Agriculture contributed $37.6 billion to New York’s economy in 2012, an increase of more than 22% from 2007, according to a report released today by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. The state ranks in the top 10 nationwide for milk and other dairy production, as well as wine, apples, maple syrup and other products. Milk is the state’s largest commodity, with $2.4 billion in sales, followed by grains, peas and beans at $856 million, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 2012 census. New York also ranked first nationwide in the production of yogurt, cottage cheese and sour cream, and was the second-largest wine producer in 2013, with 34 million gallons. The state also ranked second nationally in maple syrup production.

State Police from Sidney arrested 29-year-old Bradley Brundege of Walton for the felony of Aggravated DWI with a reportable B.A.C. result of .18%. Troopers observed Brundege drive into a rest area and stop off of County Route 23 in Sidney, Troopers determined that Brundege was driving while intoxicated, the charge became a felony due to a prior DWI conviction. Brundege was arraigned in the Town of Sidney Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of a $1,000 cash bail.

The Delaware County District Attorney’s Investigators arrested 27-Year-Old Jessica Rodriguez of Sidney, for Offering a False Instrument for Filing, Welfare Fraud & Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. Rodriguez is accused of receiving $754 in Public Assistance Benefits to which she was not entitled. Rodriguez pleaded guilty to Welfare Fraud in the 5th degree, was fined $250.00 and ordered to pay restitution.
