NEWS TUESDAY 5-28-13"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The 51<sup>st<\/sup> running of the General Clinton Canoe Regatta was held this past weekend, with the 70-mile endurance races from Cooperstown to Bainbridge on Memorial Day.\u00a0 Pro paddlers Andy Triebold from Michigan and Steve Lajoie of Quebec won their 6<sup>th<\/sup> consecutive pro race, taking the $3300 dollar prize.\u00a0 It was Triebold\u2019s 8<sup>th<\/sup> victory, placing him 2nd all time for Clinton wins, he told WCDO\u2019s Craig Stevens why he likes the Clinton Race:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>(Andy Triebold News 2013)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Triebold &amp; Lajoie finished in 6:36:55, just 19 seconds slower that the regatta record set by Serge Corbin &amp; Bruce Barton in 1990.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Todd &amp; Sean Lefever of Unadilla finished in 2<sup>nd<\/sup> place in the men\u2019s 50 years &amp; younger Comp Cruising race; they told WCDO\u2019s Craig Stevens that they raced in memory of their mother &amp; past Regatta Chairperson Pam Lefever:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Lefevers News 2013)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The brothers finished the 70-mile course in 7:27:59; over 1200 paddlers competed over the 4-day regatta, coming from 22 states &amp; Canada.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Canoe racers from 22 states and Canada descended on Bainbridge to compete in the 51<sup>st<\/sup> general Clinton Canoe Regatta, pro paddlers Andy Triebold &amp; Steve Lajoie won their 6<sup>th<\/sup> straight pro race, and came within 19 seconds of breaking the record for the fastest time.\u00a0 First time Clinton participant Frederick Blaise from Quebec took 1<sup>st<\/sup> place in the 1-man pro race, he told WCDO\u2019s Craig Stevens what he thought about his 1st experience at the general Clinton race:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Blaise News 2013)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2<sup>nd<\/sup> place C-1 Pro finisher Nick Walton of Michigan said that it was a tough race with the 26-year-old Canadian:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Nick Walton News 2013)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Blaise beat Walton by just 6 seconds in a sprint for the finish line.\u00a0 Over 1200 paddlers competed in the 4-day regatta.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>This year, 11 people were inducted into the Regatta Hall of Fame Saturday, including long time canoeist and paddle maker Al Camp of Otego.\u00a0 Camp talked about the paddling community:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Al Camp News 2013)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Camp won the Clinton pro race in 1969 with Jim Root of Binghamton; he was also an original 700-mile club members, completed 18 regattas and designed camp Paddles and Canoes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>The Otsego County Sheriff&#8217;s Office arrested 39 year old Scott Gaynor of Portlandville on 2 counts of felony criminal possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated operation of a motor vehicle, &amp; operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device.\u00a0 Deputies confiscated more than 12 pounds of marijuana from Gaynor\u2019s truck &amp; home, as well as $15,000 in cash, a scale, and plastic bags used for packaging and 10 hyrdrocodone tablets. \u00a0Gaynor was arraigned in the Town of Milford Court &amp; was sent to the Otsego County Jail on $15,000 cash bail.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>The Chenango county sheriff\u2019s department arrested 39-year-old Albert Enders of Greene for 3<sup>rd<\/sup> degree Menacing &amp; Aggravated Family Offense.\u00a0 Enders was arrested following an investigation into a domestic dispute, where he is accused of putting a family member in fear of physical injury by physically menacing the victim. \u00a0Enders faces court action shortly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Molly Youngs of Sidney will participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington DC Today.\u00a0\u00a0 Molly recently spoke with WCDO News about the trip to Washington:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Molly Youngs)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Molly&#8217;s first round is this morning; preliminaries are tomorrow, the Semifinals are on Thursday morning and Finals Thursday night.\u00a0 The event is being televised by ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>The city of Oneonta will begin reconstruction of Spruce Street from Maple to Clinton today.\u00a0 Work will include the replacement of sewer, water &amp; storm water facilities as well as curbs, sub-base &amp; pavements.\u00a0 The work is expected to be completed by August 26<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>The Chenango County Sheriff\u2019s Office Arrested 44-year-old Frank Vail and 52 year old Christina Heisler of Oxford, on charges of petty larceny &amp;
