NEWS THURSDAY 5-16-13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lawmakers continue to work in Albany, and ethics reform bills are getting priority after the recent arrests of 5 lawmakers on a variety of charges.\u00a0 Assemblyman Cliff Crouch said that he wants to see the governor\u2019s proposal to deal with the situation:<\/p>\n<p>(Crouch 5-16-13)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Among those waiting currently for their days in court are former democratic State senate leaders John Sampson for allegedly receiving $440,000 illegally &amp; Malcolm Smith for allegedly violating campaign laws relating to a possible run for New York city mayor.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>The General Clinton Canoe Regatta is expected to once again draw thousands of people to the region over the Memorial Day weekend again this year. One of the highlights this year will be the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> annual regatta Hall of Fame dinner &amp; ceremony, Regatta chairman John Harmon comments:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">(John Harmon 5-16-13)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">The \u201cMeet &amp; Greet\u201d portion will be under the tent at General Clinton Park on Saturday May 25<\/span><sup style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">th<\/sup><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"> at 4:00 PM, the dinner will start at 5:00 PM and the ceremony will follow that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>State Troopers arrested\u00a044-year-old <strong>Stephen Thill <\/strong>of Colchester, on an active arrest warrant for 2<sup>nd<\/sup> degree Aggravated Harassment from the Nassau County Police Department. The arrest resulted from another complaint, which occurred in the Town of Colchester, Thill was taken into custody and turned over to the Nassau County Police.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Oneonta Troopers arrested\u00a030-year-old <strong>Zujeily Ganio <\/strong>of Mount Vision for Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .13%. The arrest resulted from a vehicle and traffic stop in Oneonta, she was issued tickets returnable in the Town of Oneonta Court on May 21<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Congressman Chris Gibson announced this morning that he voted in support of the 2013 federal 5 year Farm Bill.\u00a0 \u00a0Provisions in the bill include a\u00a0 safety net for dairy producers through a new marginal insurance framework, Promotion and improvement of local agriculture markets, risk management options that level the playing field for specialty crop producers, support for organic farmers and specialty research, The Senate Agriculture Committee passed their version of the Farm Bill Tuesday, both versions now must pass their respective houses, and head for conference committee action.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Governor Cuomo announced today that a 14-day statewide \u201cBuckle Up New York\u201d campaign to crack down on drivers and their passengers who are not wearing seat belts will be conducted by law enforcement agencies shortly.\u00a0 The latest campaign will run from Monday May 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0 through June 2<sup>nd<\/sup>. \u201cBuckle Up New York\u201d is part of the nationwide \u201cClick It or Ticket\u201d campaign.
