News Monday 7-12-21<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police issued 10,238 tickets statewide during the July 4th Weekend enforcement campaign.&nbsp; Troopers arrested 195 people for DWI and investigated 648 crashes, including 122 personal injury crashes and 2 fatalities.&nbsp; 3955 were issued tickets for speeding, 202 for distracted driving, 671 for seatbelt violations and 132 for violating the Move Over Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo directed State agencies to prepare emergency response assets as storms are forecast to bring heavy rain and high wind gusts this afternoon &amp; tonight, possibly leading to localized flooding and isolated power outages.&nbsp; The State DOT,&nbsp; State Police,&nbsp; DEC En-Con Police, Forest Rangers, Emergency Management staff are monitoring the situation and are patrolling areas and infrastructure likely to be impacted by more severe weather.&nbsp;&nbsp; NYSEG crews had restored power in the Tri-County Region today; they are gearing up for more possible outages due to the severe weather expected in their service area.&nbsp; Broome County announced several road closures in the town of Colesville &amp; in Johnson City today, roads in other towns have been repaired and re-opened earlier today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Catholic Charities in Sidney is once again offering their Free Backpack program with School supplies for children in need in the Sidney School district, Spokesperson Penny McKnight explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Penny McKnight 7-12-21)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McKnight said that the Deadline to apply for the program is August 13th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Delaware County Chamber Connects interactive, virtual webinar will be on July 15th from 8:30 &#8211; 9:30 a.m., The featured speaker for this event is Assemblyman Chris Tague representing New York&#8217;s 102 Assembly District.&nbsp; To register, go to DelawareCounty.org.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Greater Oneonta Historical Society will hold Summer Walking Tours this Wednesday, July 14 at 7:00 PM &amp; on Sunday, July 18th at 2:00 PM.&nbsp; More information is available at the Society&#8217;s Facebook page or oneontahistory.org.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former 22nd District Congressman Anthony Brindisi of Utica announced plans today to run for Supreme Court Justice in New York&#8217;s 5th Judicial District.&nbsp; Brindisi lost his re-election bid for his congressional seat to Claudia Tenney, whom he defeated 2 years earlier. Brindisi announced that he would not seek the Congressional seat again in 2022, and will run for the Supreme court seat after new positions were made available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A.M.
