State Police responded to a crash involving 2 vehicles at the intersection of State Route 28 and James F. Lettis Highway in the town of Oneonta at about noon on Sunday July 4th. A motorcycle operated by 29 year old Anthony Masi of Otego was on State Highway 28 when he struck a Chevy Traverse that was on James F. Lettis Highway. Masi was transported to A.O Fox Memorial Hospital & was later transported by LifeNet to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The operator of the Traverse was not injured. State Police revealed that Masi’s motorcycle was recently reported as stolen. The investigation is on-going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the “Grand Re-Opening” of businesses after the recent removal of COVID pandemic restrictions, with a series of ceremonial ribbon cuttings all over the County, Chamber President Ray Pucci told WCDO News that they will be on Main Street in Sidney tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chenango County Public Health announced that their next COVID vaccination clinic will be on July 14th at Seeber’s Tavern in Smithville Flats from 3:00 to 6:00pm, then on July 15th a 1st dose Pfizer for 12 years and older clinic will be held at the former Label Shopper Store, in the South Plaza, in Norwich from 4:00 to 6:00pm. 61.7 % of the 18 plus County population has had one dose of vaccine; more information is available at 337-1660.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s office reported that Chenango County’s local sales tax collections were up over 21% in the first 5 months of 2021, following similar good News about Delaware County. Sales tax collections across the state were up significantly in the first 2 quarters, New Yorkers as a whole were making home improvements, spending more with local merchants, and the state is collecting a growing amount of tax collections from online retailers and at the gas pumps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Village of Sidney Police Department officers responded to a residence on River Street on June 13th for a report of an assault, officers found the victim bleeding from a laceration to his head, the suspect fled the scene, and allegedly used a shovel to attack the victim. Sidney Police Department arrested 46 year old John Hedman of Unadilla, he was charged with 2nd degree Assault & Criminal possession of a weapon, he was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court where he was released on his own recognizance to appear back in court on a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Delaware County Department of Public Works will begin oil and stone operations in the northern portion of the county Today, on county Route 3 followed by county routes 6, 41, 8, 36 and 37. The work is expected to take 3 to 4 weeks, depending on weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
