NEWS WEDNESDAY 1-27-21<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo held a COVID briefing today in Albany; he said that a meeting with President Biden by the national Board of Governors brought the states the news of some relief:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Cuomo 1-27-21)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuomo said that the President also announced a 16% increase in COVID vaccines coming to the state, bringing New York&#8217;s Numbers closer to 300,000 a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The State Health Department is keeping up with their schedule of COVID testing around the state; with over 202,000 tested Tuesday, just over 11,000 were positive, the positivity rate is down to 5.4%.&nbsp; Hospitalization declined to 8771, there are 1588 in an ICU Bed, &amp; 1027 are on ventilators, there were 170 deaths Tuesday from the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chenango County Public Health confirmed 2 more COVID19 related deaths, bringing the County&#8217;s toll to 37.&nbsp; Chenango County officials reported 180 Active Cases, with 18 hospitalized &amp; 531 Quarantined.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond announced that the Sheriff\u2019s Office has received grant funding through the Chenango Health Network that will help train emergency services personnel, law enforcement &amp; others to identify persons with a mental disorder and employ crisis de-escalation techniques:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Sheriff DuMond 1-27-21)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trainings will be provided by Chenango Health Network, the funding will cover the next 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spring 2021 classes began remotely at SUNY Oneonta this week, and the college has put a comprehensive plan with input from students, faculty, staff, public health experts, community leaders and elected officials, for a safe semester. SUNY Oneonta Acting President Dennis Craig told WCDO News about the plan:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Dennis Craig 1-27-21)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Craig said that over 1,500 students registered for at least one in-person class. About 650 students have opted to live in residence halls this semester, while housing capacity on campus is more than 3,600.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A.M.
