{"id":7578,"date":"2020-03-16T15:56:57","date_gmt":"2020-03-16T19:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7578"},"modified":"2020-03-16T15:56:57","modified_gmt":"2020-03-16T19:56:57","slug":"wcdo-news-monday-3-16-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-monday-3-16-20\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS MONDAY 3-16-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo signed an executive order temporarily\nmodifying election procedures to help reduce the spread of the\ncoronavirus.&nbsp; The order suspends the\ncandidate petitioning process for the June primaries for Congressional, State\nSenate, State Assembly and Judicial races, it also modifies the signature\nrequirements for ballot access; &amp; modifies deadlines and procedures\nregarding absentee voting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo announced 221 new cases of COVID-19 in New\nYork, bringing the statewide total to 950, 1 New York City Department of\nCorrections officer has died from the Coronavirus, bring the state death count\nto 4.&nbsp; The governor also announced a\ntri-state effort to curb the spread of the virus.&nbsp; Cuomo, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and\nConnecticut Governor Ned Lamont today announced that they will limit crowd\ncapacity for social and recreational gatherings to 50 people, also restaurants\nand bars will close for on premise service and will have take-out and delivery services\nonly, they also will be provided a waiver for carry-out alcohol.&nbsp;&nbsp; The 3 governors will temporarily close movie\ntheaters, gyms and casinos, all of these restrictions go into effect at 8:00 PM\ntonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bassett Healthcare announced that their network is gearing\nup to take on the Coronavirus issue, which is something that is larger than\nanything they have dealt with before according to Dr. William Streck:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Dr. William Streck 3-16-20<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bassett Hospital has launched a hotline for people who have\nquestions or concerns about Coronavirus.&nbsp;\nThe number is 547-5555; it will provide patients with up-to-date\ninformation 24\/7 on the Coronavirus and tell patients what to do if they are\nconcerned they are showing symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State lawmakers are still in Albany this week, trying to\nwrap up the State budget early, Assemblyman Cliff Crouch Comments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Crouch 3-16-20)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2 members of the State Assembly, Helene Weinstein &amp;\nCharles Barron, both of Brooklyn, have tested positive for the\nCoronavirus.&nbsp; The state Capital will be\nclosed to visitors &amp; all legislative buildings will be vigorously cleaned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">19th District Congressman Antonio Delgado announced today\nthat he will have to close his offices in Washington DC and in his home\ndistrict.&nbsp; Public meeting &amp; Town\nHalls will also be postponed.&nbsp; More information\nis available at Delgado.house.gov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Senator Fred Akshar announced that he is postponing\nhis March 18th Town Hall Meeting in Vestal. Decisions will be made regarding\nother public meetings at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Town of Unadilla announced that they are closing the\nTown Hall until further notice due to the Coronavirus situation.&nbsp; All court session are cancelled, any court\npayments can be made online, can be mailed or put in the drop box outside, Dog\nLicense &amp; Handicapped applications can be mailed, the date for Dog\nEnumeration will be extended until the end of Aprils, and Tax payments may be\nmailed or put in the drop box. When temperatures are warmer\nand the past fall&#8217;s debris and leaves dry out, wildfires can start and spread\neasily and be further fueled by winds and a lack of green vegetation.&nbsp; More information is available at dec.ny.gov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">==============================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo announced that the statewide total of coronavirus\ncases has increased to 729, and 3 deaths have been confirmed.&nbsp; The deaths were an 88 year old woman in\nBrooklyn with emphysema, and a 65 year old man with many health problems &amp;\na 79 year old female with many serious illnesses.&nbsp; Governor Cuomo said that they are working on\na plan regarding schools; he said that closing all schools brings up other\nissues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Cuomo 3-16-20)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuomo said that they are working to increase testing for the\nCorona Virus rapidly, they are trying to convince more businesses to have\nemployees work from home, and they are trying to increase hospital capabilities\nrapidly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Officials have declared a State of Emergency\neffective through Monday April 13, 2020.&nbsp;\nThe order calls for the suspension of all classroom and extracurricular\nfunctions at all public schools, except for administrative and staff functions,\nthe Order shall take effect Wednesday, March 18th &amp; will remain in effect\nuntil April 14th.&nbsp; Also, the Delaware\nCounty Office for the Aging Senior Meal sites and Senior Transit have stopped\noperations until April 14th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chenango County Officials announced Sunday afternoon that\nthey have issued a State of Emergency.&nbsp;&nbsp;\nChenango County Schools will be closed Monday, but staff must report.\nThe state of Emergency will require all county schools to close from Wednesday,\nthrough April 14th.&nbsp; Unadilla Valley\n&amp; Oxford Academy announced that they will close Monday &amp; will remain\nclosed Tuesday &amp; then through April 14th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Office announced that due to\nthe increased cases of the Coronavirus, all visitation and programs at the\nDelaware County Correctional Facility will be suspended until further notice.\nMore information is available at 832-5607.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All Otsego, Schoharie, Broome &amp;
