During a briefing on the novel\ncoronavirus earlier today, Governor Cuomo confirmed 11 additional cases of\nnovel coronavirus, bringing the total to 22 confirmed cases in New York State.\nOf the 22 individuals who tested positive for the virus, one resides in Nassau\nCounty, three reside in New York City and 18 reside in Westchester County. In\nresponse to the growing number of cases, the Governor activated the statewide\nEmergency Operation Center in Albany, as well as two Emergency Operations\nCenter outposts in Westchester County: one in Hawthorne and one in New\nRochelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A group of State Senate &\nAssembly Minority Republicans are looking to get an increase in local Highway\nfunding in the CHIPS program, which has not been increased in 7 years. Governor Cuomo has forwarded a $275 Billion\nDollar Infrastructure program in his latest Budget proposal for highway &\nbridge projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State Assembly & Senate\nhave approved of a bill that requires backseat adult passengers to buckle\nup. Current law requires front seat\nadult passengers to be buckled, but the legislation would force adult backseat\npassengers to use a seat belt too – a move supporters say will save lives and\ncut down on the risk posed to buckled-in front seat riders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State Health Department\nannounced that New York has set a record with the number of flu cases reported\nthis season. Over 130,000 cases of lab-confirmed\nflu has been reported, it’s the highest number of cases reported since tracking\nbegan during the 1998-99 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
