{"id":7509,"date":"2020-02-12T15:05:23","date_gmt":"2020-02-12T20:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7509"},"modified":"2020-02-12T15:05:23","modified_gmt":"2020-02-12T20:05:23","slug":"wcdo-news-wednesday-2-12-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-wednesday-2-12-20\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS WEDNESDAY 2-12-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>State Police arrested 2 men in the\nprocess of burglarizing a residence in the town of Guilford.&nbsp; 20 year old Connor Audette of Guilford &amp;\n25 year old Joseph Schneider of Oxford were charged with 3<sup>rd<\/sup> degree\nBurglary, Troopers were attempting to locate another individual on a warrant on\nJanuary 28<sup>th<\/sup> when they spotted Audette and Schneider hiding in a\nfield in the town of Guilford, they discovered that the 2 were in the process\nof burglarizing a nearby residence where the owner had died.&nbsp; Audette was detained by troopers but\nSchneider attempted to flee the scene and was ultimately taken into custody\nwith the assistance of a New York State Police K9.&nbsp; Audette was arraigned &amp; was released on\nan appearance ticket,&nbsp; Schneider was\ntransported to Norwich City Police where he was wanted on 2 warrants.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Otsego County\nSheriff\u2019s Department arrested 37 year old Shelly Ann Young of Laurens for 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\ndegree rape &amp; disseminating indecent material to a minor.&nbsp; Young is accused of performing sexual acts\nwith a 15 year old boy &amp; texting indecent messages to the same\nteenager.&nbsp;&nbsp; Young was arraigned and\nremanded to the Otsego County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond; she is\nscheduled to appear in court Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The National Weather Service issued a\nWinter Weather Advisory where they are calling for 3 inches of snow overnight, local\nmeteorologist Rich Townsend comments:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(Rich Townsend 2-12-20)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We\u2019ll have the WCDO\nForecast following this newscast.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>State Police arrested 28 year old\nMichael Alfaro of North Carolina for Criminal Possession of a Firearm. A State\nTrooper observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction on state route 80 in the\ntown of Burlington and initiated a traffic stop, during the investigation; the\ntrooper located a gun and a magazine with ammunition in Alfaro\u2019s possession\nthat he did not have a permit for.&nbsp;\nAlfaro was arrested and was released on appearance tickets to the town\nof Burlington court on March 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, Alfaro\u2019s passenger was not\ncharged. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Spectrum officials today announced\nthat customers may now apply for a refund, following their widespread outage\nacross the northeast this past weekend.&nbsp;\nMillions were left without service; customers can call 855-707-7328 and\nask for a credit. The Spectrum outage was caused by the winter storm Friday, &amp;\naffected customers in Maine, New Hampshire and New York, Service was largely\nrestored by Saturday evening.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Students at SUNY New Paltz are being\nsent home through the weekend, following the discovery of strong odors with the\nvillage&#8217;s water supply.&nbsp; The state has\ndeployed over 40,000 gallons of fresh water to support residents and students,\nfollowing a &#8220;do not drink&#8221; advisory from the State Department of\nHealth and Ulster County Department of Health.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Officials at SUNY Binghamton\nannounced that they received an anonymous gift of $60 million to Binghamton\nUniversity which will fund a new, state-of-the-art Baseball Stadium Complex.\nThe construction will begin within the next few weeks; The Association also wants the state to\nmaintain the 2% property tax cap, implemented by the Cuomo administration &amp;\nthe State Legislature in 2012, which has slowed the increases in state property\ntaxes from previous annual double digit increase levels.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>State Police arrested 51 year old\nJohn Travis of Port Crane, for felony of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, plus\nDWI &amp; False Personation.&nbsp; A trooper\non Interstate 88 in the town of Fenton checked on a motorist who had pulled\nover to the shoulder of the road,&nbsp; Travis\nappeared intoxicated &amp; gave the trooper a fake name.&nbsp;
