The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident\nin the town of Sanford, where the driver of a tractor-trailer collided with a\nfarm tractor Monday morning. The\ndeceased has been identified as 32-year-old Cole Wood of Walton. The preliminary investigation revealed that\nWood’s tractor-trailer was carrying steel-I beams and the farm tractor hauling\na manure spreader & both were traveling south on State Route 41, the\ntractor-trailer came upon the farm tractor and swerved into a ditch, the momentum of the steel-I beams continued\nto move them forward into the cab of the tractor-trailer, pinning Wood\ninside. The operator of the farm tractor\nwas not injured. The tractor-trailer was\nowned by Richard Gray Trucking of Bainbridge, The crash remains under\ninvestigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Police are reminding the\npublic to move over for emergency vehicles. On Monday, a trooper from the\nLiberty barracks had a close call on State Route 17 in the town of Rockland.\nThe trooper just stopped a vehicle for violations, when his vehicle was struck\nfrom behind as he was preparing to exit, the unidentified trooper sustained\nnon-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
State Police issued more than 8,300 tickets and arrested 122\npeople during a special STOP DWI traffic enforcement period over Super Bowl\nWeekend. The initiative was funded by\nthe Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and was also carried out by local law\nenforcement agencies across the state. \nTroop C had 500 tickets, 175 of them for speeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
