State Senator Fred Akshar held a press conference at the\nBroome County Sheriff\u2019s Department yesterday, vowing to fight to overturn or\nfix some of the portions of the Bail Reform law that just went into effect that\nis sending some violent criminals back out onto the streets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akshar said that numerous cases\nhave occurred already where someone has been released on an appearance ticket,\nand almost immediately committed a crime that they would not have been able to\ncommit if they had been remanded to jail like they would have last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo today announced the Executive Budget includes\nrecord funding for the Environmental Protection Fund at $300 Million. Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested Gary Warfield\nJr. of East Branch on 1 count of endangering the welfare of a child. Deputies allege that Warfield did knowingly\nact in a manner injurious to the physical, mental, or moral welfare of a child\nless than seventeen years of age. Warfield was released on an appearance ticket\nreturnable the Town of Hancock court at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
