{"id":7466,"date":"2020-01-20T14:29:06","date_gmt":"2020-01-20T19:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7466"},"modified":"2020-01-20T14:29:06","modified_gmt":"2020-01-20T19:29:06","slug":"wcdo-news-monday-1-20-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-monday-1-20-20\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS MONDAY 1-20-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>State\nSenator Jim Seward announced today that the will NOT seek re-election this\nyear, and will retire from the senate when his current term expires at the end\nof the year.&nbsp; Seward released a statement\nsaying that he has responded well to his recent cancer treatments, but his\ncontinuing treatments will limit his ability to maintain the rigorous schedule\nneeded to campaign for re-election.&nbsp;&nbsp;\nSeward has serviced in the State Senate since 1986.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Commerce\nChenango has teamed up with SFCU to host a series of Roundtable Workshops, with\nthe 1st one scheduled for the morning of January 28th in Norwich, Commerce\nChenango CEO Kerri Green explains:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(Kerri\nGreen 1-20-20)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The\nworkshop will be held in the Commerce Chenango Community Room at 15 South Broad\nStreet in Norwich, starting at 7:30 AM through 9:00 AM, more information is\navailable at 334-1400.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Governor\nCuomo will release his state budget plan Tomorrow afternoon which has a 6\nBillion dollar projected budget gap due to the state taking over the Medicaid\ncosts from local governments over the last 6 years, he commented during his\nState of the State address 2 weeks ago:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(Cuomo\n1-20-20)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>State\nComptroller Tom DiNapoli stated last week that the state too often relies on\nmoving deficits to out-year budgets, eventually it has to be dealt with.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bills\nare being drawn up in both house of the state legislature to rescind or delay\nthe controversial Bail Reform bill that went into effect January 1st.&nbsp; Hundreds of criminal charges that used to\nresult in suspects being held on bail, are now having the suspects released\nback into their communities, several committed crimes within hours of their\nrelease.&nbsp; Governor Cuomo made no mention\nof the controversy in his State of the State address on January 8th.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Former\nNew York Congressman Christopher Collins was sentenced Friday to 26 months in\nfederal prison for his role in an illegal insider trading scheme involving an\nAustralian business.&nbsp; Collins must\nsurrender on March 17th to the Bureau of Prisons &amp; will be sent to a\nfederal prison, He resigned from Congress immediately after the plea.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The\nLegacy of DR.
