{"id":7454,"date":"2020-01-14T14:43:08","date_gmt":"2020-01-14T19:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7454"},"modified":"2020-01-14T14:43:08","modified_gmt":"2020-01-14T19:43:08","slug":"wcdo-news-tuesday-1-14-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-tuesday-1-14-20\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS TUESDAY 1-14-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is still confusion regarding different aspects of the\nstate\u2019s new Bail Reform law, especially the &#8220;Discovery&#8221; Provision\nthat keeps police agencies from arresting suspected criminals if a lab report\nis needed, Delaware County DA John Hubbard explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(John Hubbard 1-14-20)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opponents to the Discovery portion of the bail reform bill\nnote that DA&#8217;s offices &amp; Law Enforcement agencies would need more personnel\nto meet the 15 day requirement &amp; some arrests might not even be made\ninitially, as it is often difficult to get certain lab tests performed in the\n15 day time limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dylan Robinson and Nicolas Meridy have been offered plea\nbargains in Otsego County Court by Otsego County District Attorney&#8217;s\noffice.&nbsp;&nbsp; The pair was offered 22 years\nin prison to life if they plead guilty for their roles in the fatal shooting of\nRobinson&#8217;s father Kenneth Robinson, in his Worcester home on October 10th.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Meridy &amp; Robinson face additional court\naction on March 9th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York paid $26.6 billion more in taxes to the federal\ngovernment in federal fiscal year 2018 than it got back in federal spending,\naccording to a report by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.&nbsp; New York was 1 of 7 states that paid more tax\ndollars than it received back in spending, only the neighboring states of New\nJersey and Massachusetts fared worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Otsego County Jail is expected to reopen in\nmid-February.&nbsp; The inmates were moved out\nto other jails following a roof leak in November, where the prisoners were all\nbeing kept, while renovations were underway in another part of the jail.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo today announced an agreement with Senate\n&amp; Assembly leadership on a limousine safety regulation package. The package\nincludes seatbelt requirements, immobilization of defective limousines,\nincreased penalties for illegal U-turns, GPS requirements, regular validation\nof vehicle and driver safety information, and new commercial driver&#8217;s license\nrequirements for limousine drivers, plus the creation of a passenger task force\nand drug and alcohol testing.&nbsp; The legislation\nfollows the Schoharie limo crash on October 6<sup>th<\/sup> 2018 that left 20\npeople dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next meeting of the General\nClinton Canoe Regatta committee will be held tonight in Bainbridge.&nbsp; The meeting will be held at Galaxy Bowl in\nBainbridge.&nbsp; The race Committee meeting\nwill begin at 6:30, the general meeting will begin at 7:30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oneonta Police Announced that 32 year old April Johnson has\ndied in an Albany Hospital.&nbsp; Johnson was\nhit by a car while trying to cross the Lettis Highway on December 30th.&nbsp; No charges will be filed against the driver\nof the vehicle, 41 year old David Shafer of Otego.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sidney Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic\nstop Saturday on a vehicle for a traffic infraction. The vehicle failed to\ncomply and refused to stop.
