{"id":7452,"date":"2020-01-13T14:58:37","date_gmt":"2020-01-13T19:58:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7452"},"modified":"2020-01-13T14:58:52","modified_gmt":"2020-01-13T19:58:52","slug":"wcdo-news-monday-1-13-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-monday-1-13-20\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS MONDAY 1-13-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Federal officials announced that 35 year old Jason Wentworth\nof Oneonta was sentenced to 5 years\u2019 probation for stealing Social Security\nbenefits.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Wentworth pleaded guilty to\na 6 count indictment for stealing Social Security survivor\u2019s benefits and for making\nfalse statements to the Social Security Administration to obtain the\nbenefits.&nbsp; Wentworth was also ordered to\npay restitution to the government in the amount of $27,525 and restitution to\nhis son in the amount of $25,035. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adirondack Films and Film Director Lori Bailey will hold an\nopen Casting Call for a new film centered around a story with a World War 2\nbackdrop on Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge at 322 Main Street in Oneonta.&nbsp; Bailey told WCDO News who should attend:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Lori Bailey 1-13-20)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Casting Call will be from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday;\nmore information is available by email LoriJB58@outlook.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Lawmakers are up in arms over the Bail Reform\nlegislation that went into effect this month that was buried in a budget bill\nlast year that has New Yorker crime victim fearing reprisals after violent\noffenders are released on appearance tickets from courts, because they can&#8217;t be\nremanded to jail.&nbsp; Assemblyman Cliff\nCrouch comments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Cliff Crouch 1-13-20)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crouch said that the Governor backed off on support for the\nbill recently, but said nothing about the issue in his State of the State\nAddress last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A State Supreme Court Justice has blocked New York State\nfrom enforcing an executive order banning flavored vaping products, where the\njudge ruled that the state Public Health and Health Planning Council overstepped\nits authority last September when it issued a ban on e-cigarettes and e-liquids\nflavored with anything other than tobacco or menthol.&nbsp; The ruling stated that regulating the vaping\nindustry is a job for the state Legislature, not the executive branch.&nbsp; Governor Cuomo said that he would introduce\nlegislation to ban flavored nicotine e-cigarette products as well as vaping\nadvertisements aimed at youth.&nbsp; The\nCenters for Disease Control and Prevention reports that more than 2,500 people\nnationwide have reported respiratory issues from vaping and 54 people have\ndied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 30 year old\nNatasha Reed of Hamden Friday for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor\nVehicle, following the report of a motor vehicle accident in the Town of\nWalton, where it was found that Reed had been operating that vehicle while her\ndriving privileges were suspended in the State of New York. Reed was issued an\nappearance ticket for the above charge, and was also issued a traffic ticket\nfor unlicensed operator. She was scheduled to appear before the Town of Walton\nCourt at a later date to answer for the charge.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chenango Arts Council will showcase the work of\nrecipients of 2019\u2019s New York State Decentralization Grant Program in the\nMariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries at 27 West Main Street in Norwich\nFriday at 5:30 PM.&nbsp; The exhibit will feature\nvisual and performing arts from Broome, Chenango and Otsego county arts\norganizations.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The reception is free\n&amp; open to the public, more information is available at 336-ARTS or\nchenangoarts.org. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">==========================================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 31 year old Tami Gray of Oneida for\nBurglary, Robbery, attempted Robbery, Menacing and Reckless Endangerment.&nbsp; Gray was arrested following a burglary in the\ntown of Plymouth and 2 vehicle pursuits that ended in the town of Willet after\na tire deflation device was utilized and the 2 suspects were taken into\ncustody.&nbsp; Gray was processed and\narraigned in the town of Plymouth court where she was remanded to the Chenango\nCounty Jail on $50,000 cash bail, the male suspect has charges pending, the investigation\nis continuing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Otsego County Court has created a County Opioid Court as\npart of a statewide effort to get those arrested on Opioid related crimes into\na treatment program faster.&nbsp; The new\ncourt will accept both felony and misdemeanor cases from Otsego County Court,\nand any Town or Village Court in Otsego County; as well as referrals from local\nattorneys, police agencies, first responders, probation officers and any other\nagencies working with at-risk opioid users.
