{"id":7427,"date":"2020-01-02T13:49:17","date_gmt":"2020-01-02T18:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7427"},"modified":"2020-01-02T13:49:17","modified_gmt":"2020-01-02T18:49:17","slug":"wcdo-news-thursday-1-2-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-thursday-1-2-20\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS THURSDAY 1-2-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The top Republican in the State Assembly, Brian Kolb, was charged with a DWI in his hometown of Victor New Year\u2019s Eve.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kolb has served in the State Assembly since 2000, he has led the minority Assembly Republicans for the last 11 years, and some State Republicans are calling for Kolb to step down.\u00a0 Kolb will be back in court at a later date. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A\nfamily of three in Morris were left homeless by a fire Monday night.&nbsp; The fire broke out in a home on Harris Hill\nRoad home, no injuries were reported, and the family is receiving assistance\nfrom The Red Cross.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Delaware\nCounty Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 20-year-old Michael Bryden of Delhi on 4\ncounts of Petit Larceny and 4 counts of Criminal Mischief, following an\ninvestigation into multiple reports of stolen catalytic converters in the Towns\nof Delhi and Franklin. Bryden was released on appearance tickets and is\nscheduled to appear in the Town of Delhi and Town of Franklin Courts at a later\ndate to answer the charges. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The\nOtsego County Planning &amp; Solid Waste Department and the Otsego County\nConservation Association announced the 2020 plastic film recycling\nchallenge.&nbsp;&nbsp; Schools in Otsego County are\ncompeting to see who can collect the most plastic film for recycling through\nApril 15th; the winners will be announced at OCCA\u2019s Earth Festival on April\n18th.&nbsp; 10 schools are currently signed up,\nmore information or to sign up, call 547-4256.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Governor\nCuomo signed legislation enacting the New York Call Center Jobs Act to protect\ncall center jobs in New York.&nbsp; The new\nlaw establishes rules within the Department of Labor to publicly track all call\ncenters that move New York jobs to another country; imposes severe penalties\nagainst companies that fail to timely report such information; forces employers\nthat received benefits for call centers from the State that move to repay any\ngrant or guaranteed loan they have received and prohibits companies from\nreceiving future state benefits for five years. The Department of Labor will\ncompile an annual list of all center employers that relocate, which will be\navailable through the Department&#8217;s website.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Delaware\nCounty Sheriff Deputies arrested 67-year-old Thomas Lima of Franklin on an\nArrest Warrant issued by the Town of Delhi Court for the charges of Criminal\nMischief 4th degree, Trespass, and Harassment, following a report of an ongoing\nharassment by Lima in the Town of Franklin. Lima was arraigned at the Town of\nDelhi Court and was released on his own recognizance; he will appear at the\nTown of Franklin Court at a later date.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Oneonta\nFire Fighters responded early Wednesday morning to a fire at 50 Cedar Street in\nOneonta.&nbsp; Several fire companies\nresponded along with Oneonta, including Worcester, Sidney, Franklin, West\nOneonta, Pindars Corners &amp; Laurens.&nbsp;\nThe fire was contained but the home suffered heavy damage.&nbsp; Officials are investigating the cause of the\nfire. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The\nCity of Oneonta crews will repair a water main break on Orchard Street today\nnear the dead end.&nbsp; Part of Orchard will\nbe closed along with sections of streets near the work area; the roads will be\nopen only for local traffic.
