The Driver’s License Access and Privacy Act, also known as\nthe ‘Green Light law’, is now in effect , It allows all New Yorkers age 16 and\nolder to apply for a standard, not for federal purpose, non-commercial driver\nlicense or learner\u2019s permit regardless of their citizenship or lawful status in\nthe United States. Driver\u2019s license\napplicants who have never been issued a Social Security Number are eligible to\napply, provided that they show a combination of documents that prove their\nname, date of birth, New York state residency & any number of allowed\nforeign documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Ford SUV has crashed into TriValley Family Practice\nMedical Offices in Canastota earlier today. \nPart of the Medical Center has collapsed, 4 people were injured and were\ntaken to area hospitals for undisclosed injuries, and the investigation is\nongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New York Siting Board has approved of Calpine’s wind\nturbine project in Broome County. 4\nturbines will be built in the Town of Windsor & 23 in the town of Sanford,\nin spite of the Sanford Town Board passing a resolution last week, which was\nlabelled as overly burdensome to Calpine and was rejected by the Siting\nBoard. Calpine will be able to begin\nconstruction of the 27-tower project shortly. \nCalpine also has plans to build turbines in the town of Guilford; the\nstate has not made any decisions on that project yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Police were dispatched Saturday to a report of a child\nthat fell out of a minibus on I-81 near Kirkwood. A preliminary investigation revealed that 2\nminibuses with several members from an Amish community from Lancaster\nPennsylvania were traveling south on Interstate 81. A 3-year-old child was in the rear area of\nthe first bus with other children when he leaned on an emergency window, which\nopened and the child fell out onto the Interstate. The buses immediately turned around\ntraveling northbound then back southbound and located the child running along\nthe shoulder of the Interstate. The\nchild was treated at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City for lacerations, bumps and\nbruises, the investigation continues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo today announced the 1st proposal of his 2020\nState of the State agenda: Preventing individuals from receiving New York State\ngun licenses if they commit a crime in another state that is similar to a crime\nthat would disqualify them from owning a gun in New York State. State Police arrested 44 year old Joshua Cutting of Sidney\nCenter for felony DWI after a trooper observed Cutting stop in the passing lane\nof I-88, the trooper also observed an equipment violation on the vehicle and\ninitiated a traffic stop on State Highway 8 in the town of Sidney. Cutting was issued appearance tickets to the\ntown of Sidney court & was turned over to a sober third party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
