{"id":7383,"date":"2019-12-09T14:22:44","date_gmt":"2019-12-09T19:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7383"},"modified":"2019-12-09T14:23:39","modified_gmt":"2019-12-09T19:23:39","slug":"wcdo-monday-12-9-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-monday-12-9-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO MONDAY 12-9-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police are investigating the death of a Walton man who\ndied while snowmobiling Friday.&nbsp; 46 year\nold Jeffrey Benson&#8217;s snowmobile went through ice Friday, at about 6:15 PM, near\nChipmunk Hollow Road in the town of Walton; a friend that Benson was snowmobiling\nwith tried to pull him out of the water unsuccessfully, Walton firefighters\neventually pulled him out.&nbsp; The cause of\ndeath is suspected to be hypothermia, the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker declared that\ninfluenza is now prevalent in New York State. This announcement means that\nhealthcare workers who are not vaccinated against influenza wear surgical or\nprocedure masks in patient areas.&nbsp;\nLaboratory-confirmed cases are in 42 counties and all 5 boroughs of New\nYork City. So far, there are 691 flu-related hospitalizations and 1\nflu-associated pediatric death reported.&nbsp;\nMore information is available at health.ny.gov. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 25 year old\nDystinee Rubera of Unadilla&nbsp; with\nAggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Moved from lane unsafely\nand Operate Motor Vehicle by Unlicensed Driver. The arrest occurred as result\nof a traffic stop on State Highway 10 in the Town of Delhi, Rubera was issued\nan appearance ticket to Town of Delhi Court at a later date. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another free Christmas Day dinner is being offered by Gene\nSchmidt &amp; his family at the Sidney Fire Department on River Street, Schmidt\nis looking for volunteers to help out:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Gene Schmidt 12-9-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dinner will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Christmas Day,\nthose who would like more information, or to volunteer, can call Schmidt at\n607-610-4030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several Dietz Street area\nbusinesses owners are teaming up for a lawsuit against the City of Oneonta,\nthey claim that the city did not follow proper procedure when they approved of\nplans for new housing on Dietz Street.&nbsp;\nPlans call for are related apartments &amp; businesses to go into the\nLofts project on Dietz Street, some of the parking spots in the Municipal lot\nwould be removed in favor of the new building.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators from the Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Office\narrested 27-year-old Anthony Masi Friday, for Criminal Contempt.&nbsp; Masi was being held at the Delaware County\nCorrectional Facility on a Parole violation, he allegedly violated an Order of\nProtection issued by the City of Norwich Court.&nbsp;\nMasi was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and remanded back to the\nDelaware County Correctional Facility on $1,000 cash bail, or $2,000.00 bond\n&amp; he will appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date for further\nCourt action.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo today announced a new $14 million initiative\nto support agriculture with a new funding opportunity, to address the threat of\nthe conversion of viable agricultural land to non-farm development and help\nfarms facing financial difficulties because of increased challenges resulting\nfrom trade disputes, increasing debt, changing consumer preferences and climate\nchange. The grant program will assist eligible farmers with the acquisition of\nperpetual conservation easements on agricultural land and ensure the long-term\nviability of New York&#8217;s farming operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Otsego County Board of Representatives voted last week\nto approve their 2020 budget plan, and voted to approve of adding the position\nof County Manager at an annual salary of $150,000, a search will be conducted\nand a county manager is expected to be hired later next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 44-Year-Old\nJubar McDaniel of St. Albans, for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor\nvehicle, Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order, Speeding as well as several\nother charges, after he failed to comply with law enforcement on State Highway\n17 in Hancock, into the Town of Colchester, and he stopped in Sullivan\nCounty.&nbsp; McDaniel was arraigned in the\nColchester Town Court, and subsequently remanded to the Delaware County Jail on\n$500 cash, or $1,500 bond.&nbsp; McDaniel is\nscheduled to return to the Town of Colchester Court at a later date.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The American Red Cross will hold a Blood Drive in Sidney\nToday at the A.O.
