Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies\narrested 38-year-old Eric Swart of Delhi on charges of obstructing government\nadministration and resisting arrest following a report of a dispute in the\nVillage of Delhi.  Deputies accused Swart\nof making threats of physical harm to the deputies & resisting arrest, he\nwas taken into custody, & was arraigned at Hamden Town Court and was\nremanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1,500 bail.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo signed legislation\nprohibiting consumer reporting agencies and lenders from using the credit\nscores of people in a consumer’s social network to determine that individual’s\ncredit worthiness.  The US General\nAccounting Office has estimated that some 75 percent of credit scores are wrong\nbased on incorrect information collected by credit bureaus and attached to\nindividual credit scores.  This new law\nwill prevent credit agencies from using this data to determine an individual’s\ncredit score, this law goes into effect immediately.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. Department of Agriculture\nsays thousands of pounds of salad products are being recalled due to a possible\nE. coli contamination.   Missa Bay from\nSwedesboro, New Jersey is recalling more than 75,000 pounds of salad products\nsold between October 14th<\/sup> & 16th<\/sup> in 22 states,\nincluding New York.  The Maryland\nDepartment of Health tested an unopened salad product with chicken and the\nlettuce came back positive for a strain of E. coli bacteria, which can result\nin diarrhea and vomiting.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were 2,290 cases of lung injury\nlinked to vaping as of November 20, according to the Centers for Disease\nControl and Prevention.  Vaping injuries\nhave been reported in 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the\nUS Virgin Islands, the CDC also reports 47 confirmed deaths in 25 states and\nthe District of Columbia, 2 deaths have occurred in New York State.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Binghamton Police have\ncharged 22 year old Elijah Burnside of Binghamton with 2nd degree  manslaughter following a 2-car crash on the\ncorner of Chapin Street and Leroy Street on Thursday afternoon.  Binghamton Police responded to the report of\na 2 car crash with the vehicle than crashing into a house, 5 people were\ninjured & 1 unidentified person was killed. \nPolice accused Burnside of driving His Honda too fast through a Stop\nSign & colliding with a BMW, whose driver was killed as a result of the\ninjuries sustained in the accident, Burnside’s passengers suffered non-life\nthreatening injuries<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Senator Fred Akshar released\nhis latest Community Voice Survey on the public financing of political\ncampaigns. The State Budget cleared the way for the state to establish a\ntaxpayer-funded public campaign financing system by creating a Commission and\nsetting aside up to $100 million in tax dollars to fund the program.  The commission is also examining eliminating\nor changing the practice of fusion voting, which allows a candidate to appear\non more than one party line on the ballot. \nAkshar’s survey can be found at nysenate.gov. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
