20 year\nold James Hamilton of Oneonta has been charged with 1st degree rape, by Oneonta\nPolice, for allegedly raping a woman recently. \nHamilton is being held in the Otsego County Jail, pending future court\naction. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 time\nWorld Series champion Derek Jeter heads a group of 18 new candidates on the\n2020 Hall of Fame ballot that is being mailed this week to more than 400 voting\nmembers of the Baseball Writers Association of America.  Jeter will join 14 holdovers from the 2019\nballoting, plus newcomers to the ballot, Candidates must be named on 75 percent\nof ballots cast by selected BBWAA members with 10 or more consecutive years of\nMLB coverage to gain election<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nUnatego Girls Soccer team made it to the State Championships in Cortland, on\nSaturday the Spartans advanced in the semifinals over Haldane in penalty kicks\nafter a 0-0 tie through regulation and overtime.  On Sunday the Spartans played in the state\nchampionship game and fell 1-0 to defending champion Stillwater. This was the\nfarthest any team has made it in Unatego school history.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following\na scam that referenced the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Delaware\nCounty Sheriff Craig DuMond reminds area residents to be mindful of this\ncurrent scam.  Residents may receive a\nphone call from a male stating to be from a Law Enforcement Agency, threatening\njail because of a warrant for IRS violations and Identity Theft; they may be\ninstructed to purchase gift cards to various locations.  Sheriff DuMond advises that he or anyone\nassociated with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER solicit any\nfinancial information or seek fund requests over the phone.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nState Legislature is holding a hearing this Wednesday regarding the successes or\nfailures of this year’s first attempt at early voting.  The state Board of Elections has said over\n256,000 people cast their ballots before Election Day between Oct. 26 and Nov.\n3 under early voting.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major\nLeague Baseball is reportedly ready to propose a plan to eliminate about 1\/4 of\nthe 160 plus Minor league teams, especially short league Single A teams,\naccording to the Daily News, the Short season Brooklyn Cyclones would be placed\nin the Double A Eastern League, thereby eliminating the Binghamton Rumble\nPonies.  Binghamton owner John Hughes\nplans to have representation at an upcoming meeting on the subject, showing\nthat NYSEG Stadium & the team\u2019s location are worthy reasons to keep the team\nin Binghamton.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

State\nPolice are investigating a Fatal Hunting Accident Saturday morning.  20 year old Joshua Morgan from Newport was a\npart of a hunting party in the town of Frankfort when he was reportedly\naccidentally shot by another member of his hunting party.  Morgan was pronounced deceased at the\nscene.  The investigation is continuing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delaware\nCounty Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 35 year old Albert Janke of Shirley for Speeding\n& Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle on State Highway 17 in\nthe Village of Hancock, where a DMV check revealed that Janke’s driving\nprivileges in New York were suspended. Janke was subsequently released on an\nappearance ticket, and was scheduled to appear before the Village of Hancock\nCourt at a later date.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delaware\nCounty Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the arrest of 25-year-old Willie Walker\nof Fishes Eddy on a sealed indictment warrant handed down by the Delaware\nCounty Grand Jury.  Walker was arrested\non Thursday following a narcotics sales investigation,  Walker was arraigned on 3 counts of Criminal\nSale of a Controlled Substance,  Walker\nwas remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail\npending further court action.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
