Governor Cuomo said that the case has been turned over to\nthe State Health Department for investigation. So far there have been about\n1000 health related cases connected to Vaping, including 18 deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City of Norwich Police Department and the Chenango\nCounty Sheriff\u2019s Office are seeking information on 31 year old Christopher\nLacroce, for allegedly leading Police on a high speed chase last Friday, &\nwho is also wanted on a warrant for allegedly hitting a pedestrian with a\nvehicle September 15th at the intersection of Mitchell and Silver streets in\nNorwich. Lacroce faces charges of\n2nd-degree assault, among other charges that are pending following Friday\u2019s\nchase. Anyone with information\nregarding Lacroce\u2019s whereabouts is asked to contact the Norwich City Police\nDepartment at 607-334-2424 or the Chenango County Sheriff\u2019s Office at\n607-334-2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, 19th District Congressman Antonio Delgado announced\nthat $1,239,817 in federal funds were recently awarded to the Friends of the\nUpper Delaware River and Trout Unlimited as part of the Delaware Watershed\nConservation Fund. These new funds will allow local organizations to conserve\nand restore fish and wildlife habitat, enhance and maintain water quality, and\nimprove river-based recreational opportunities and public access in the Upper\nDelaware Watershed. NYSEG and AAA New York announced that they are working\ntogether to remind passenger and commercial drivers about the dangers of\ndistracted driving. NYSEG has seen an\nuptick in the number of passenger vehicles that strike electric poles and\ncommercial construction vehicles that come into contact with power lines and\nother electric equipment. According to\nthe AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, 88% of drivers believe distracted\ndriving is on the rise, with nearly half of all drivers admitting to recently\ntalking on hand-held phones and another 35% reporting that they have sent a\ntext or email while driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo announced that 2 new laws to improve pay\nequity policies will go into effect today, which prohibits all employers who do\nbusiness in New York State from asking prospective employees about their salary\nhistory and compensation. The new laws\nalso expand the definition of “equal pay for equal work.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo signed legislation which amends the criminal\nprocedure law to clarify that individuals convicted of petty offenses will have\ntheir records sealed by default. Sealed records will not be made available to\nany person or public or private agency unless a judge determines otherwise, the legislation will take effect in 90 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
