A Chenango County Grand Jury has indicted 39 year old Gary\nNichols of Norwich, in connection with the stabbing of a Norwich resident in\nJuly, and escaping from police custody while being treated for injuries at\nChenango Memorial Hospital. Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 34-year-old\nJoshua Gardepe of East Branch, Wednesday on the charge of endangering the\nwelfare of a child, following an investigation of a report of child\nmaltreatment in the Town of Hancock. Gardepe was arraigned at Town of\nColchester Court and was released to appear at Town of Hancock Court at a later\ndate to answer the charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo signed legislation extending the statute of\nlimitations to 20 years for rape in the 2nd degree and to 10 years for rape in\nthe 3rd degree. The law also extends the statute of limitations to 20 years for\n2nd degree criminal sexual act & 2nd degree incest & to 10 years for\n3rd degree criminal sexual act. Prior to\nthis new law, victims only had 5 years to bring a legal case alleging 2nd &\n3rd degree rape or criminal sexual act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
