{"id":7221,"date":"2019-09-16T15:09:19","date_gmt":"2019-09-16T19:09:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7221"},"modified":"2019-09-16T15:09:38","modified_gmt":"2019-09-16T19:09:38","slug":"wcdo-news-monday-9-16-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-monday-9-16-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS MONDAY 9-16-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chenango County Sheriff&#8217;s Office responded to a car\n&amp; motorcycle accident Saturday night at about 9:25 PM at State Route 206\n&amp; Moran Road in the Town of Coventry.&nbsp;\nInvestigators said that 22 year old Vincent Corbo of Marathon was\noperating a 1998 Suzuki motorcycle on State Route 206, when 19 year old Sean\nSnyder of Afton was making a left turn from Moran Rd onto State Hwy 206, &amp;\nthe vehicles collided.&nbsp; Corbo was\ntransported to Wilson Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, Snyder\nsustained a head injury was also transported to Wilson Hospital.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commerce Chenango will once again host their annual\n&#8220;Chamber Challenge&#8221; on Sunday September 29th at the Pharsalia State\nLands, Chamber President Steve Craig explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Steve Craig 9-16-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Craig said that this year&#8217;s Chamber Challenge is\nco-sponsored by Chobani and Preferred Mutual Insurance Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chenango County Sheriff\u2019s deputies arrested a Village of\nOxford couple for Cruelty to Animals.&nbsp;\nThe investigation began after a citizen located an abandoned and\nneglected American Bulldog in North Norwich; it was brought to a Veterinarian\nfor treatment.&nbsp;&nbsp; Deputies arrested 23\nyear old Monica Towndrow of Oxford for Cruelty to Animals and Providing a False\nStatement, 26 year old Matthew Spicer of Oxford was also arrested for Cruelty\nto Animals.&nbsp; The investigation is ongoing\nand additional arrests are expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce monthly 1st Friday\nEat &amp; Meet Networking Breakfast will be held on Friday, October 4th from\n8:30 to 10:00 AM at the Sidney Golf &amp; Country Club. Wingerter was pulled over for moving from lane\nunsafely, and operating with an obstructed rear license plate, he was released\non tickets returnable to the Town of Hancock Court at a later date.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo announced an emergency executive action to\nban the sale of flavored electronic cigarettes in New York State.&nbsp; DOH Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker will hold\nan emergency meeting with the Public Health and Health Planning Council this\nweek to ban flavored e-cigarettes. The Governor directed State Police and DOH\nto immediately partner to ramp up enforcement efforts against retailers who\nsell to underage youth, with the possibility of criminal penalties.&nbsp; The Governor will advance legislation to ban\ndeceptive marketing of e-cigarettes to teens and children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Broome County will receive over $3.1 million in state\nmatching funds through the County-Wide Shared Services Initiative. Broome\nCounty achieved the savings in 2018 through the implementation of shared\nservices projects, when they partnered with the Capital District BOCES Pharmacy\nPurchasing Coalition; they also saved over $9,700 from sharing caseworkers\nbetween school districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Blood Donors of all types are needed to ensure a sufficient\nsupply for patients.
