Bail for 18 year old Cody Coleman of Smithville was set at\n$600,000 cash or $1 million bond earlier this week in Chenango County\nCourt.  Coleman was charged with 2nd<\/sup>\ndegree murder, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon\nfor the May 3rd death of his 16-year-old girlfriend, Amelia Wakefield of\nOxford.   Coleman is being held at the Chenango County\nCorrectional Facility pending future court action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Delaware County Historical Association is accepting\nnominations for its annual Awards of Merit. Tomorrow is the last day to register online for this\nSaturday’s Bainbridge Glow Run at General Clinton Park, benefitting the\ncharitable event’s founder Heather Bucalos of Sidney, who is facing cancer\ntreatments for the 2nd time in 5 years. \nBucalos comments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hartwick College will honor a pair of local benefactors\nduring their True Blue Weekend on September 21st.   The late Clyde and Mildred Wright will be\nhonored with the naming of Hartwick\u2019s new turf athletic field.  Wright Stadium is home to the College\u2019s men\u2019s\nfootball, women\u2019s field hockey, and men\u2019s and women\u2019s lacrosse programs, as\nwell as intramural sports.  Starting on\nthe 21st, all men\u2019s sporting events played at the stadium will take place on\n\u201cThe Clyde;\u201d all women’s sporting events will play on \u201cThe Millie.\u201d  More information is available at 431-4432 or\njoness3@hartwick.edu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chenango Arts Council\nannounced that their Fall Workshops begin on Saturday September 14th through\nOctober 19, where Rod Sutton will teach Photography to students of all levels\nof experience.  An Advanced Drawing\nworkshop will also be held from September 23 until October 14, the workshops\nare made possible in part by the State Council on the Arts.  More information is available at 336-ARTS or\nchenangoart.org.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American Red Cross will hold blood drives today,\nSeptember 11th, which is Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and\nRemembrance.  In The Southern Tier, a\nblood drive will be held from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM at Binghamton University, in\nChenango County, in New Berlin from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM At Golden Artist\nColors, at 188 Bell Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo announced the Department of Financial\nServices is taking action against the opioid manufacturers, distributors and\npharmacy benefit managers to secure $2 billion for New York consumers who have\nshouldered the cost of the ongoing opioid epidemic in the form of higher\ninsurance premiums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 8:30 a.m., Governor Cuomo will attend the September 11\nCommemoration Ceremony.  Following the\nceremony, Governor Cuomo will join more than 700 motorcycle riders\nparticipating in the 9\/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride at a lunch and ceremony in\nNew York City.  Groups of riders will\ntravel from Albany, Ulster and Nassau Counties before converging in New York\nCity.  Following the lunch, Governor Cuomo\nand the other riders will depart on motorcycles for a ceremonial ride down the\nWest Side Highway to the World Trade Center site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 3rd annual Sidney Warriors 5K Walk\/Run will be held at\n2:00 PM on October 13.  The race is a\nfundraiser, with 60% going to the Ronald McDonald House, and 20% each going to\nthe Sidney Joshua House, and the Sidney Food Bank.  Music, awards, and refreshments will follow\nthe races.  Registration is $15; those\nwishing to pre-register can do so at bit.ly\/2lHLnG8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
