{"id":7191,"date":"2019-08-30T14:56:13","date_gmt":"2019-08-30T18:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7191"},"modified":"2019-08-30T14:56:13","modified_gmt":"2019-08-30T18:56:13","slug":"wcdo-news-friday-8-30-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-friday-8-30-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS FRIDAY 8-30-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has found that New\nYork waived its water quality authority for Williams&#8217; Constitution Pipeline,\ngiving new life to a natural gas project stalled since April 2016 when the\nstate DEC denied a permit.&nbsp;&nbsp; Federal\nregulators have cleared the way for the Constitution pipeline project to move\nforward, if the company still plans to do so.&nbsp;\nThe original plans called for the pipeline to run from Pennsylvania\nthrough the Susquehanna River Valley to the Capital Region, Williams Partners\nappealed to federal courts after New York rejected a water quality permit over\nconcerns for 250 streams. The project still needs a permit from the U.S. Army\nCorps of Engineers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo today signed legislation closing the legal\nloophole that allows creditors to use New York courts to secure confessions of\njudgment and seize the assets of borrowers for cases where the borrower has no\nconnection to New York. Prior to this new law, creditors were able to exploit\nNew York laws to freeze and seize a borrower&#8217;s assets by obtaining a judgment\nentered in a court far from where the contested agreement was executed, making\nit difficult for a borrower to legally contest the unfair penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The State DEC invites Public Comment about Proposal for No\nFurther Action at the Amphenol Superfund Site on Delaware Avenue at dec.ny.gov\nuntil September 20th.&nbsp; The DEC has also\nscheduled a public meeting on September 4th at 7:00 PM at Sidney Civic Center\nto discuss the proposed remedy and accept public comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">===================================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A recent audit of the Village of Bainbridge found only 1\nissue to be cleared up, after the village had spent over $4,000 at Barnard&#8217;s\nHometown Hardware, while owner Erik Barnard was serving as a Village Trustee.&nbsp; Bainbridge Mayor Phil Wade comments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Phil Wade 8-30-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mayor Wade said that Barnard submitted his resignation in\nJuly, &amp; that there was no intentional wrongdoing, and he hoped that Barnard\nmay revisit public service in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The State Division of Budget\nannounced today that they are approving the State Board of Elections\u2019 plan to\ndistribute $10 million to county governments to support early voting\nimplementation.&nbsp; The State Budget\nallocated $24.7 million for assistance with implementing a series of election\nlaw reforms, including early voting.
