{"id":7183,"date":"2019-08-28T14:30:53","date_gmt":"2019-08-28T18:30:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7183"},"modified":"2019-08-28T14:31:09","modified_gmt":"2019-08-28T18:31:09","slug":"wcdo-news-wednesday-8-28-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-wednesday-8-28-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS WEDNESDAY 8-28-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Norwich City Police have charged a 3rd person in connection with the beating on Lackawanna Avenue recently that left the victim with a skull fracture &amp; blind in 1 eye.\u00a0 30 year old Tyrone Lester Jr., of Norwich was charged with 1st-degree assault, he is accused of participating in the assault along with Jonathan Booker and Hannah Bard, all 3 face additional court action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police and the Department\nof Transportation announced the continuation of \u201cOperation Hardhat,\u201d to crack\ndown on work zone violations and highlight the importance of safe driving\nthrough active work zones on state highways.&nbsp;\nState DOT Region 9 Director Nick Choubah said that drivers are not\nmoving over as they should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Nick Choubah 8-28-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police Captain Jeffrey\nVanAuken explained what the Move Over Law means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Captain Jeffrey Van Auken\n8-28-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Troopers are patrolling\nactive DOT work zones along Interstate-81 in Broome County and State Route 17\nin Tioga County this week to enforce work zone speed limits and that motorist\u2019s\nfollow the state\u2019s Move Over Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York State&#8217;s Marijuana Decriminalization\nLaw went into effect today.&nbsp; The law was\nsigned by Governor Andrew Cuomo last month and reduces penalties for possession\nof small amounts of marijuana and allows for records to be expunged for people\nwith certain marijuana convictions.
