New York State paid more than $100 million in duplicate\npayments to managed care organizations for premiums over a more than 4 year\nperiod, according to an audit released today by State Comptroller Tom\nDiNapoli. Auditors found many cases of\npeople with multiple Client Identification Numbers, with Medicaid making\nduplicate payments to those individuals. \nDiNapoli recommended that the Department Of Health Review the $102.1\nmillion in improper premium payments identified and make recoveries; Ensure\nLocal Districts make timely and accurate updates to information and evaluate\nthe feasibility of creating a control to prevent multiple Client ID Numbers\nfrom being reused in the future. Delaware County Public Health has been notified that a raccoon submitted for rabies testing from the Town of Stamford was confirmed positive for rabies. This is the fifth rabid animal confirmed in the County in 2019. The raccoon was reported to have attacked an unvaccinated cat, and chickens. The cat has been humanely euthanized.
