Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s department announced that\nindictments were handed down by a Grand jury against 2 area women on drug\ncharges. 43-year-old Crystal Smith of\nEndicott and 31-year-old Anna Kellam of Hancock were charged with criminal sale\nof a controlled substance independently of each other, in Hancock. Kellam was already being held in the Delaware\nCounty Jail on an unrelated charge, she is accused of selling prescription\ndrugs illegally in Hancock on 3 occasions. Endicott Police arrested Smith last\nweek on a warrant for allegedly selling Suboxone in Hancock on two\noccasions. Kellam is being held on\n$15,000 bail, Smith was being held in the Delaware County Jail without bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chenango County Planning\nboard 239 subcommittee approved a measure on the town of Guilford\u2019s Renewable\nenergy law this morning, Town of Guilford Supervisor & County Planning\nBoard member George Senek comments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senek said that the next\nGuilford town board meeting will begin at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the town hall,\nwhere the board will review the SEQR environmental Application; they may act on\nit, and possibly act on the Renewable Energy Law. The Energy law proposal follows a proposal by\nCalpine to erect up to 30 wind turbines in the town of Guilford. A Group known as the Concerned Citizens of\nGuilford opposes the plan and is questioning the legality of the process the\ntown is using with its renewable energy law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City of Oneonta announced that their contractor will\nbegin a water main tie in at East End Ave starting at 7:00 AM Wednesday. State Police announced that the pedestrian struck by a car\non Friday evening near the Unadilla Valley Sports Center has died. 20 year old Jonathan Mayzak of South Carolina\nsuccumbed to his injuries on Sunday afternoon at St. Elizabeth\u2019s Hospital in\nUtica. An autopsy will be performed at\nthe Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office in the near future. The investigation is continuing with the\nState Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and The Chenango County District\nAttorney’s Office will be consulted at the conclusion of the investigation as\nto whether additional charges are warranted against the driver, 31 year old\nEdward Burnett of Utica. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo signed legislation which prohibits employment\ndiscrimination based on religious attire, clothing or facial hair. The new law\namends the State Human Rights Law to make clear that employers cannot refuse to\nhire, attain, promote, or take other discriminatory action against an\nindividual for wearing attire or facial hair in accordance with tenets of their\nreligion.
