Governor Cuomo today signed legislation criminalizing the\nmanufacture, sale, transport and possession of firearms and major components of\nsuch weapons that are undetectable by a metal detector, including 3D printed\nguns and expanding laws requiring the safe storage of firearms. This\nlegislation builds on the Red Flag Bill signed in February that prevents\nindividuals who show signs of being a threat to themselves or others from purchasing\nor possessing a firearm and it builds on legislation Governor Cuomo signed Monday\nextending the background check waiting period and banning bump stocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo today signed legislation to allow state and\nlocal candidates to use campaign funds to pay for child care expenses, enabling\nmore parents to run for public office. \nSpecifically, the bill amends state election law to allow campaign funds\nto be used to pay child care expenses that are “incurred in the campaign\nor in the execution of the duties of public office or party position.” The\nbill’s provisions are effective in 60 days. \nIn New York, about 33 percent of the state’s executive and legislative\nofficials are women, compared with a national average of 29 percent of state\nexecutive and legislative officials, according to the Center for American Women\nand Politics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Police conducted an\nUnderage Drinking Initiative in Otsego and Chenango counties last week. 13 retail stores were checked and all of the\nstores were found to be in compliance and did not sell alcohol to the underage\noperative. Among the compliant stores\nwere: Mirabito Quickway in Sidney & Franklin, Snake Bite Liquors of Afton& B & W\nWines & Liquors in Bainbridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 58-year-old Karl\nHeidenreich of Franklin for Criminal Impersonation; following a civilian report\nthat Heidenreich falsely pretended that he was a Police Officer. Heidenreich was released on an appearance\nticket and is scheduled to appear at Franklin Town Court at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
