{"id":7084,"date":"2019-07-10T14:41:16","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T18:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7084"},"modified":"2019-07-10T14:41:16","modified_gmt":"2019-07-10T18:41:16","slug":"wcdo-news-wednesday-7-10-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-wednesday-7-10-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS WEDNESDAY 7-10-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo today signed the\nEqual Pay for Equal work bill into law today in New York City, prior to the\nparade for the US Women&#8217;s World Cup Championship Soccer Team in New York City:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Cuomo 7-10-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuomo said that the bill will\nalso ban employers from asking prospective employees about their salary\nhistory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delhi police arrested 2 men for\nallegedly breaking into a village home.&nbsp;\n20 year old James Bares of Great Neck and 20 year old Nicholas St. John\nof Trumbull, Connecticut were arrested on June 29 after police received a\nreport of a burglary at a Main Street residence, Both suspects were charged\nwith 2nd degree burglary, criminal mischief, petty larceny and criminal\npossession of stolen property, they were arraigned in the town of Kortright\nCourt and sent to the Delaware County Jail on $3,000 cash bail pending future\ncourt action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A permit to move Woodstock 50 to\nVernon Downs hit another obstacle Tuesday, when the Town of Vernon &amp; Oneida\nCounty officials denied a permit for the concert at Vernon Downs, because they\nhad failed to supply mandated information in their application, had no specific\nplans for law enforcement or for emergency services, and because the application\nwas filed too close to the time of the planned event.&nbsp; Woodstock 50 was originally scheduled to be\nheld in Watkins Glen, several issues &amp; lawsuits kept the concert from being\nheld there.&nbsp; Time is running out as the\nconcert was scheduled to be held August 16th through the 18th this year, on the\n50th anniversary of the original Woodstock festival in Bethel in 1969.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s\nDeputies arrested 34 year old Joshua Gardepe of East Branch on charges of\nAggravated Unlicensed Operation, Speeding, and inadequate headlamps. The arrest\nfollowed a traffic stop on State Route 357 in the Town of Franklin.&nbsp; Gardepe was released on tickets and is to\nappear in Town of Franklin Court on July 25th at 6:00 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dormitory Authority of New\nYork &amp; the State University of New York has begun work to renovate SUNY\nOneonta\u2019s Huntington Hall, at a cost of $20 million.&nbsp; Huntington Hall will be modernized and reconfigured\nto provide additional bedroom space for approximately 80 students. All bedrooms\nand bathrooms will be renovated, complete with new, contemporary finishes. A\n6,000 square foot, four-story addition, which will include a fitness room,\ncommunity kitchens, and an elevator, will also be constructed.&nbsp; In addition, $1.2 million in further\nrenovations are being made to SUNY Oneonta\u2019s Grant, Sherman, and Tobey Halls.\nThe work is part of the nearly $61.2 million in upgrades to SUNY campuses\nthroughout New York State being completed by DASNY during the summer months,\nwhich will be ready in time for students to begin the fall semester.&nbsp; Construction is expected to be completed in\nJuly 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A petition has been set up\nasking the Sidney Town Board to expand commercial zoning to save Muddy River\nFarm Brewery, after they received a Cease &amp; Desist order.&nbsp; Muddy River appealed the decision &amp; lost,\nthey are asking the Town of Sidney extend their Commercial Zoning to the facility,\nif that fails they would be forced to close on July 24th.&nbsp; A petition for local residents to sign is\navailable at change.org.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">45-year-old Thomas Sutton of Sidney was arrested Tuesday in connection with the fire on July 3rd at the Econo Lodge in the Town of Dickinson.\u00a0 Sutton was charged with arson and reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and obstructing governmental administration &amp; he faces court action shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Public Meeting on new Upper Delaware River Policies will\nbe held in Hancock this morning, where &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Representatives from the Delaware River Basin\nCommission, State DEC, The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the DRBC\nSubcommittee on Ecological Flows will discuss new approaches to control high\nwater temperatures and reduce erratic water releases in the Upper Delaware\nRiver tail waters.&nbsp; The meeting will\nbegin at 10:30 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Friends of the Upper Delaware River\noffice at 158 East Front Street, Hancock. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sidney Community Band Announced their 2019 Don Clayton\nMemorial Trailside Concert Series will be held at the Pavilion at Keith Clark\nPark at 6:30 PM on Wednesday nights, starting July 10th with the Sidney\nCommunity Band.&nbsp; Shows will be held each Wednesday\nnight through August 21st, all concerts free and open to the public.
