{"id":7078,"date":"2019-07-08T14:15:37","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T18:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7078"},"modified":"2019-07-08T14:15:49","modified_gmt":"2019-07-08T18:15:49","slug":"wcdo-news-monday-7-8-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-monday-7-8-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS MONDAY 7-8-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 53 year old Michael Silver of Franklin for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Leaving the Scene of Personal Injury Accident and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, after a trooper was dispatched to a hit and run accident on State Route 357 in the town of Franklin.\u00a0\u00a0 As the trooper was responding the area, he observed Silver\u2019s vehicle with heavy front end damage.\u00a0 A traffic stop was initiated; Silver was impaired by drugs and had a suspended driver\u2019s license.\u00a0 Silver was released on appearance tickets to the town of Oneonta court tomorrow.\u00a0 The operator of the other vehicle was taken to UHS Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton for arm pain and later released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Streets of Norwich will be filled with basketball\nplayers for the annual Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament this weekend,\norganizer Tom Revoir said that they still need volunteers for a variety of\nnecessary functions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Tom Revoir 7-8-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The number to call &amp;\nvolunteer for the Macker Tournament at the Norwich Y is 336-9622, extension 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 28 year old Rosa Bautist-Pena of\nYonkers for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, after she arrived at the\nState Police barracks in Oneonta to speak to a trooper on an unrelated\nmatter.&nbsp; She was arraigned in the town of\nOneonta court where she was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $50 cash bail\nor $250 property bond.&nbsp; She will appear\nin the town on Oneonta court on July 11th.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced that there is $16 billion waiting to be claimed and the Office returns over $1.5 million a day.\u00a0\u00a0 Anyone who thinks that New York State may have unclaimed funds can visit .osc.state.ny.us and search your name to find out if the state has money that belongs you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 38-Year-Old Mary\nHubert of Unadilla, Sunday for DWI, following a civilian report of a driver\nsleeping behind the wheel of a motor vehicle on Sheehan Road in the Town of\nMeredith.&nbsp; Hubert was also issued tickets\nfor Parking on a Public Highway, and Refusal to Take a Breath Screening Test;\nshe was released on tickets for the Town of Meredith Court at a later date. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several area fire departments responded Friday to a fire at\na home in the town of Butternuts.&nbsp; The\ncall came into Otsego County 911 at 7:14 p.m. Friday night from the residents,\nwho successfully escaped the house without injuries. Fire companies from Mt.\nUpton, Gilbertsville, Unadilla, Wells Bridge and Morris all responded to the\nscene, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce is accepting\nnominations for our Celebration of Sustainable Success Awards.&nbsp; Nominees should be a chamber member who\ndeserves recognition for the Quality of Life Award, which is given to a\nbusiness, involved in the community and has made Otsego County a better place\nto live and work. The second award is the Environmental Stewardship Award which\nis for businesses, industries or organizations that have implemented programs\nor projects that have had a positive environmental impact on Otsego\nCounty.&nbsp; Nominations should be submitted\nby 5:00 pm Thursday, July 18.&nbsp; The\nwinners will be honored at the Summer Soiree on Thursday, August 22nd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of the absentee ballots in\nBroome County have now been counted for the Republican Party Primary District\nAttorney race.&nbsp; Paul Batistti is named\nthe winner over Michael Korchak by slim margin, Batistti had a slim margin on\nPrimary Day June 25th, the counting of the absentee ballots today confirmed\nBatistti&#8217;s victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 38 year old Joshua Eckman of Oneonta\nfor Criminal Contempt, after a victim called troopers stating that Eckman\nentered the victim\u2019s residence and violated an order of protection.
