{"id":7072,"date":"2019-07-03T14:28:44","date_gmt":"2019-07-03T18:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7072"},"modified":"2019-07-03T14:28:44","modified_gmt":"2019-07-03T18:28:44","slug":"wcdo-news-wednesday-7-3-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-wednesday-7-3-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS WEDNESDAY 7-3-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police will increase patrols, conduct sobriety\ncheckpoints and target reckless and aggressive driving statewide through\nFriday, to insure the safety of motorists over the 4th of July holiday.&nbsp; Troop C Commanding Officer Major Brian\nShortall said that State Police will also rigorously enforce the &#8220;Move\nOver Law&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Major Shortall 7-3-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Troopers will also be looking for distracted motorists who\nare using their phones and other electronic devices while behind the\nwheel.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Otsego County Sheriff\u2019s Office is seeking the public\u2019s\nassistance in trying to find 35 year old Gregory Collins, who was last seen on\nJune 28 in the town of Middlefield.&nbsp;\nCollins was wearing a black baseball cap, grey jacket, black sweatpants\nwith black and white sneakers, anyone with information is asked to call the\nOtsego County Sheriff\u2019s Department at 547-4273.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Board of Colorscape Chenango announced that Peter Yarrow has been uninvited to perform at their September 8<sup>th<\/sup> Music Festival in Norwich.\u00a0\u00a0 Yarrow was jailed in 1970 for indecent liberties with a 14-year-old girl.\u00a0 The Board announced that they were unfamiliar with Yarrow\u2019s arrest in 1969, and short jail term in 1970, they hope to announce a replacement performer shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Baseball Hall of Fame &amp; Museum announced\nthat 57 Past Hall of Fame members will return to Cooperstown on July 19<sup>th<\/sup>\nthrough the 22<sup>nd<\/sup>, for the induction of the Hall of Fame Class of\n2019. This year\u2019s inductees are Harold Baines, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina,\nMariano Rivera and Lee Smith, this year\u2019s class also includes the late Roy\nHalladay, they will all be inducted on Sunday, July 21<sup>st<\/sup> at the\nClark Sports Center complex beginning at 1:30 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Annual 4<sup>th<\/sup> of July Festival in Oneonta will\nbe filled with a variety of activities tomorrow.&nbsp; The Color Run will begin at 9:00 AM, the\nparade will begin at 12:00 Noon along Main Street, There will be free admission\nto the Oneonta Outlaws Baseball Game at 6:00 PM &amp; the Fireworks display at\n9:30 PM. The majority of the activities will be held in Neahwa Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo announced that lane closures for road and\nbridge construction projects on State highways will be suspended from 6:00 am\nJuly 4th to 6:00 Monday July 8 to accommodate travelers during the busy Independence\nDay holiday.&nbsp; Motorists should be aware\nthat some work may continue behind permanent concrete barriers or for emergency\nrepairs.&nbsp; Governor Cuomo is urging\nmotorists to follow the state&#8217;s Move Over Law, which requires motorists to slow\ndown and safely move over for law enforcement vehicles, fire trucks,\nambulances, tow trucks and construction or maintenance vehicles that are\nstopped along the side of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 55 year old Frank Kovacs of Laurens\nfor felony of Aggravated DWI with Child 15 or Under as Passenger.&nbsp; Kovacs responded to State Police in Oneonta\nto discuss another matter with troopers, he appeared to be intoxicated &amp;\nhad 2 children, ages 9 and 11 in the vehicle with him.&nbsp; Kovacs was arrested; the children were turned\nover to a sober third party.&nbsp; Kovacs was\narraigned in the town of Oneonta court where he was released on his own\nrecognizance.&nbsp; He is scheduled to\nreappear on July 25, 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 46 year old Kerie Lake of Hillcrest\nSaturday for Aggravated DWI, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident,\nMoving From Lane Unsafely and Imprudent Speed.&nbsp;\nLake is accused of leaving the scene of an accident, she was found in\nthe city of Binghamton, her BAC was .20%.&nbsp;\nShe was released on appearance tickets to the town of Binghamton court\non July 11th. 70 year old Leo Lake of Binghamton responded to pick up Kerie\nLake, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, with a reportable B.A.C.\nof .15%.&nbsp; He was released on appearance\ntickets to the town of Kirkwood court on July 11th. . <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3 Bronx Men were indicted in Otsego County Court for\nallegedly grabbing an Oneonta woman off the street and threw her into a van\nbefore demanding money from her at an ATM.&nbsp;\nFrankie Liberata-Garcie,&nbsp; Erick\nTavares, and James Semidey were arrested in May after Oneonta Police received a\nreport from neighbors on Watkins Avenue that claim they saw two men grab a\nwoman off the street and thrown into a white cargo van.&nbsp; All 3 were indicted on charges of kidnapping\nand robbery, and were remanded to the Otsego County Jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow July 4th will be the annual &#8220;Fireworks Over\nThe Fairgrounds&#8221; event at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich.&nbsp; Terry Potter of Millennia Entertainment\nexplains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Terry Potter 7-3-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gates open at 3:30 pm; The fireworks display will begin at\ndark.
