A new law allows for Individuals who paid or\nincurred burial costs for a crime victim may be eligible for up to $6,000 from\nthe Office of Victim Services for funeral services, burial plot, the deceased\u2019s\nburial clothes, clergy fees, transportation costs for the deceased, obituaries,\nhead stone, flowers, death certificates, and church fees for religious services\nand flowers.&nbsp; More information is\navailable at ovs.ny.gov or 1-800-247-8035.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York State could soon become the first state to require\ningredient labels on feminine hygiene products.&nbsp;\nThe measure passed in both houses of the Legislature last week and now\nawaits action by Governor Cuomo; it would require packaging labels listing the\nmaterials used in tampons and pads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A.O. Fox Hospital announced the appointment of Jeff Emhof as\nthe new administrator of Fox Nursing Home.&nbsp;\nEmhof has been a licensed nursing home administrator in New York State\nfor more than 11 years, having most recently worked at the Cooperstown Center.&nbsp;&nbsp; Emhof will oversee strategic planning\ninitiatives and operations of the 130-bed skilled nursing facility connected to\nthe hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chenango Arts Council is partnering with Friends of\nRogers to offer a bus trip to the American Museum of Natural History in New\nYork City.&nbsp; The touring bus will leave\nthe Chenango Arts Council parking lot, at 27 West Main Street in Norwich at\n7:00 AM on Saturday, August 3rd and return to the same location at around 10 pm\nthat night. Reservations must be made by July 19th at 336-ARTS or\nchenangoarts.org.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To enhance the quality of life for tenants of Circle Drive\nApartments, Conifer Realty LLC has designated the property in Sidney as\nentirely smoke-free effective September 1st of this year.&nbsp; Circle Drive officials will post signs,\nwindow clings and bench plates around the 56-unit facility to remind tenants\n&amp; visitors that the smoking prohibition would be extended to the entire\nproperty including all indoor and outdoor common areas, building entryways,\nplayground, parking areas and inside vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;- <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">COLORSCAPE Chenango announced\nthat folk singer Peter Yarrow, of Peter, Paul and Mary fame, will appear on the\nNBT Main Stage in downtown Norwich on Sunday, September 8th. The 2019\nColorscape will be held September 7th &amp; 8th in the East and West Parks in\nNorwich. For more information, visit www.colorscape.org. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo announced that New York residents can fish\nfor free without a license in one of the 7,500 lakes and ponds or 70,000 miles\nof rivers and streams across the state during this weekend.&nbsp; New York&#8217;s Free Fishing Weekends help encourage\nmore people to get outdoors and enjoy the fishing opportunities available; more\ninformation is available at dec.ny.gov\/outdoor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Town of Greene resident was arrested by the Chenango\nCounty Sheriff\u2019s Office for Harassment and Criminal Contempt Monday.&nbsp; Deputies arrested Brittany Niemiec after a\ncomplaint of a domestic dispute where she allegedly subjected the victim to\nunwanted physical contact while there was an active order of protection in\nplace.&nbsp; Niemiec was arraigned in the Town\nof Greene Court and was released on her own recognizance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oneonta Officials said that their contractor will be\nconnecting the new water main to existing water mains at the intersections of\nMain &amp; Tilton, and Main &amp; Third. The residents on these side streets\nwill experience a temporary water outage while the service is switched from the\nold main to the new main, lasting less than four hours.&nbsp; 1-lane traffic will be maintained on Main\nStreet, side streets may be closed to through traffic.
