{"id":7027,"date":"2019-06-10T14:24:20","date_gmt":"2019-06-10T18:24:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=7027"},"modified":"2019-06-10T14:25:47","modified_gmt":"2019-06-10T18:25:47","slug":"wcdo-news-monday-6-10-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-monday-6-10-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS MONDAY 6-10-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Delaware County Fair Board has voted to prohibit its\nvendors from displaying Confederate flags and related merchandise at the 2019\nfair, but will not forbid their sale, according to Delaware County Sheriff\nCraig Dumond.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The policy is the same\nas last year; however, Confederate merchandise was on full display at that\nfair, this year, Sheriff DuMond said the no-display policy will be\n&#8220;aggressively enforced.&#8221;&nbsp; The\nfair board&#8217;s decision follows the efforts of \u201cFair for All\u201d to end the sale and\ndisplay of the Confederate flag at the fair which they view as a symbol of\nwhite supremacy &amp; hatred which should not be at a county fair. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The State Senate and Assembly voted to exempt nursing\nmothers from jury duty.&nbsp; The legislation\nwould permit women to delay jury duty up to 2 years if they are breastfeeding a\nbaby, The bill now goes to Governor Cuomo,&nbsp;\nwho is expected to sign the measure into law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Otsego County Sheriff\u2019s Office and NYS State Police\nescorted runners in the annual New York &#8220;Run for the Fallen&#8221; Saturday\nState Route 20 through Otsego County.&nbsp;\nThe annual New York &#8220;Run for the Fallen&#8221; spans more than 170\nmiles and honors New York military service members who died as a result of\nserving the War on Terror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Greater Chenango Cares is once again coming to Norwich with\nfree medical, dental, vision and veterinary services provided to the community\nby military medical personnel.&nbsp; Elizabeth\nMonaco of the Chenango United Way is looking for volunteers for this event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Elizabeth Monaco 6-10-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Monaco said those interested in volunteering can call\n334-8815.&nbsp; Monaco also said that the\nfirst 2 Chenango Cares events provided over 2 million dollars\u2019 worth of\nservices to over 5 thousand patients, while readying military personnel for any\npossible deployment for their medical services This year\u2019s event will be held\nat Norwich High School from July 11th through the 20th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don Clayton Memorial Trailside\nConcert Series returns to Sidney on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM in July &amp;\nAugust.&nbsp; The series will begin with the\nSidney Community Band performing on July 10th under the pavilion at Keith Clark\nPark.&nbsp; All concerts are free &amp; open\nto the public, more information is available at 764-9590 or at the Sidney\nCommunity Band Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The State DEC is asking the public to report moose\nsightings, to assist a multi-year research project.&nbsp; Moose sightings increase in the spring with\nthe rising temperatures and melting snow.&nbsp;&nbsp;\nIn 2018, a total of 220 moose observations were reported to DEC, a\nnoticeable increase from the 163 reports in 2017, Most moose sightings occur\nwithin the Adirondacks, but neighboring states Connecticut and Massachusetts\nalso have moose populations, resulting in observations in the southeast portion\nof New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Investigators arrested 43-year-old\nLisa Myers of Delancey, for Strangulation, Endangering the Welfare of a Child\n&amp; 3rd Degree Assault. Myers was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court, and\nreleased on her own recognizance, to re-appear in that Court at a later time\nfor further Court action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more than 25 years, the Youth Apprenticeship Program has\nbeen an integral part of The Raymond Corporation\u2019s commitment to science,\ntechnology, engineering and mathematics education, as well as played a large\nrole in building the workforce of the future.
