{"id":6982,"date":"2019-05-17T14:04:20","date_gmt":"2019-05-17T18:04:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=6982"},"modified":"2019-05-17T14:11:37","modified_gmt":"2019-05-17T18:11:37","slug":"wcdo-news-friday-5-17-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-friday-5-17-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS FRIDAY 5-17-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ernest Franklin of Mount Upton is seeking a retrial, after\nbeing found guilty of murdering his special needs stepson Jeffrey, and setting\nfire to the family residence to cover up the murder.&nbsp; Franklin was due to be sentenced in Chenango\nCounty for the murder arson &amp; tampering with physical evidence charges when\nthe motion for a retrial was filed.&nbsp;&nbsp;\nErnest Franklin&#8217;s wife Heather pleaded guilty to manslaughter, arson and\nevidence tampering for her role in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chenango County Sheriff&#8217;s Department announced 18 year\nold Cody Coleman has been charged with 2<sup>nd<\/sup> degree murder &amp; criminal\npossession of a weapon, in connection with the death of 16 year old Amelia\nWakefield in Smithville on May 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.&nbsp;\nColeman was being held on a probation violation in the Chenango County\nJail since the May 3rd fatal shooting of Wakefield, he was returned to the Jail\nwithout bail after an indictment was unsealed this afternoon in Chenango County\nCourt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SUNY Delhi will hold its 102nd annual commencement at 10\na.m. Saturday. About 800 students will graduate with certificates and\nassociate, bachelors, and master&#8217;s degrees, according to a media release.&nbsp; The ceremony will be held at the track and\nfield facility on campus.
