{"id":6967,"date":"2019-05-13T15:26:01","date_gmt":"2019-05-13T19:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=6967"},"modified":"2019-05-13T15:29:57","modified_gmt":"2019-05-13T19:29:57","slug":"wcdo-news-monday-5-13-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-monday-5-13-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS MONDAY 5-13-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A joint investigation between the State Police at Otsego\nCounty Sheriff\u2019s Department has resulted in the arrest of 27 year old Kimberly\nSteeley of Decatur.&nbsp; Steeley was arrested\non a Grand Jury indictment and charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree Manslaughter,\nfollowing a June 2018 investigation into the deaths of her twin infant\nchildren.&nbsp; Steeley was arraigned at the\nOtsego County Court and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $10,000 cash\nbail or $100,000 bond.&nbsp; A preliminary\nhearing is scheduled for June 3, 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">40-year-old Chad Swartwood of Castle Creek was arrested\nFriday for allegedly possessing child pornography &amp; attempting to receive\nof child pornography.&nbsp; Swartwood is\naccused of impersonating a teenage girl online to try to convince teenage boys\nto send him sexually explicit photos of them.&nbsp;&nbsp;\nSwartwood is ordered held on Friday in US District Court, he could face\n25 to 110 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and a term of post-release\nsupervision and he will have to register as a sex offender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sidney Chamber of Commerce &amp; Sidney EMS is bringing\nin Fox Hospital CEO Jeff Joyner to discuss the relationship of Sidney and the\nsurrounding area with Fox Hospital and the future growth of FOX services at the\nTri-Town Campus in Sidney.&nbsp; The\ndiscussion will begin at 8:00 AM Tuesday at Sidney Country Club<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo announced nearly $9 million will be awarded\nto implement water quality protection projects on 24 farms across the state.\nThe funded projects will allow livestock farms to better manage and store\nnutrients such as manure to protect groundwater and nearby waterways. This\nprogram is part of the governor&#8217;s $2.5 billion Clean Water Infrastructure Act\nof 2017, which invests resources for drinking water, wastewater infrastructure,\nand other water quality protections statewide.&nbsp;\nThe list of awards can be found at Agriculture.ny.gov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Senator Fred Akshar released the results of his latest\nonline surveys asking constituents to weigh in on current issues.&nbsp; On legislation to allow undocumented\nimmigrants to obtain driver&#8217;s licenses, 84% of residents opposed allowing\nundocumented immigrants to obtain drivers licenses; 13% supported the measure\n&amp; 3% were undecided.&nbsp; The survey\nresults on legislation to provide free college tuition for children of members\nof our military who lost their lives in the line of duty, also known as Gold\nStar Families, showed that 87% supported providing free college tuition\nassistance to Gold Star Families 8% opposed it and 5% were undecided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A very familiar Pro Racer will be returning to the 57th\nGeneral Clinton Canoe Regatta on Memorial Day Weekend, WCDO Sports Director\nNate Lull has the story:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Nate Lull 5-13-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information on directions,\nhours, event info, race entries, and any other information is available at\ncanoeregatta.org or at the General Clinton Canoe Regatta Facebook Page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 40 year old Curtis Cuttino &amp; 46\nyear old Michael McVicker, both of York Pennsylvania for 2nd degree Murder\nafter a home invasion in Apalachin Thursday morning.&nbsp; Troopers were dispatched to 5 Dorothy Road at\napproximately 5:55 a.m., Thursday for a report of a shooting, troopers found 32\nyear old Brian Argro dead inside,&nbsp;&nbsp; A\n20-year-old female acquaintance was not harmed, she told troopers that 2 men\ncame to the house, knocked on the door &amp; were let in by Argro, a scuffle\nensued, Shots were fired, Argro was killed &amp; the suspects fled on\nfoot.&nbsp; Tioga County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies\nlocated Cuttino on State Route 434, State Police and the Monticello Police\nDepartment arrested McVicker later on Thursday, he was returned to\nBinghamton.&nbsp; Both suspects were later\nremanded to the Tioga County Jail on without bail. Police are looking into how\nCuttino and McVicker arrived in Apalachin; anyone with information can contact\nState Police at 561-7400.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Norwich City School District released a video of a\nNorwich bus driver Samantha Call, saving a student from being hit by an illegally\npassing car.&nbsp; Congressman Anthony\nBrindisi, plus officials from Broome County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the state\nAssociation of Pupil Transportation &amp; Chenango Valley School District\nofficials will be in attendance as Brindisi lays out plan to prevent illegal\nschool bus passing and improve student safety at the Chenango Valley Bus\nGarage, 58 Towpath Road in Binghamton at 3:00pm today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Manhattan judge has scheduled a court legal hearing this\nafternoon that may help determine the fate of the Woodstock 50 festival in\nWatkins Glen in August.&nbsp; Organizers of\nWoodstock 50 have filed a petition accusing the festival&#8217;s financial backer\nDentsu Aegis Network of creating a &#8220;worldwide uproar&#8221; by announcing\nthat the concert was canceled, as well as misappropriating $18 million.&nbsp; They&#8217;re asking a judge to order Dentsu to\ngive back the funds, and to stop them from &#8220;disparaging Woodstock 50,\ninterfering with its contracts with performers and others, and undermining the\nFestival.&#8221;&nbsp; Woodstock 50 had been\nannounced for August 16-18 in Watkins Glen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ed Wessels Canoe Race was held Saturday on the\nSusquehanna River, with over 70 boats competing in a variety of classes.
