{"id":6929,"date":"2019-04-22T14:52:12","date_gmt":"2019-04-22T18:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=6929"},"modified":"2019-04-22T14:52:12","modified_gmt":"2019-04-22T18:52:12","slug":"wcdo-news-monday-4-22-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-monday-4-22-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS MONDAY 4-22-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Measles Outbreaks in New York State continue to drive up the\nnumber of U.S. measles cases, According to the Centers for Disease Control\n&amp; Prevention today.&nbsp; The numbers are\nthe highest in 25 years, with 68 of the 71 national cases reported last week,\nwere in New York State.&nbsp; So far this\nyear, there have been 626 conformed Measles cases nationwide, there 963 cases\nin for all of 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state Department of Public Service announced a proposed\nagreement with Charter-Spectrum that would allow the company to remain in\nbusiness in New York State.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Charter\nwould expand broadband service to 145,000 businesses and residences in upstate\nNew York by Sept. 30, 2021; they would provide $12 million for broadband\nexpansion, primarily for unserved and underserved properties.&nbsp;&nbsp; A 60-day public comment period would follow;\nany agreement must be approved by the Public Service Commission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The City of Oneonta announced that starting at 9:00 PM Tonight;\nMain Street will be closed to all traffic, as crews will be installing a new\nwater service at 221 Main Street.&nbsp; Main\nStreet will be closed from Chestnut Street to Elm Street; pavement restoration\nis expected to occur Tuesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trial for 45 year old Wilfredo Pica-Torres has been\nscheduled for August 26th in Broome County Court.&nbsp; Pica-Torres is accused of killing 61-year-old\nVictor Banayan on February 9th at 109 Walnut Street in Binghamton, he recently\npleaded not guilty to an indictment where he was charged with 2nd degree\nmurder, 1st &amp; 2nd degree arson, &amp; attempted 2nd degree murder, and he\nis being held in the Broome County jail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">U.S. Senator Charles Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten\nGillibrand announced over $172 million dollars in federal funding from the\nDepartment of Housing and Urban Development through the Community Development\nBlock Grant &amp; in the HOME Investment Partnership Program.&nbsp;&nbsp; Communities will use the funding to address\na wide range of needs and enable local governments to support affordable\nhousing initiative, provide essential services, and expand economic\ndevelopment. at familyrn.org or at 432-0001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 33 year old Amanda Gus of Hartwick for\n3rd degree Grand Larceny, after Troopers received a complaint that money was\nmissing from an ATM and logs were unaccounted for from a period of time\nstarting in February and ending in April.&nbsp;\nGus is accused of failing to fill the ATM while working at the Mirabito\nstore on State Highway 205 in Hartwick, more than $1000 was unaccounted\nfor.&nbsp;&nbsp; Gus was released on her own\nrecognizance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 52 year old Antonio Fiorino of\nWorcester for 2 counts the Agriculture and Markets Law of Overdriving,\nTorturing and Injuring Animals.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A trooper was dispatched to Worcester where\nthe complainant believed Fiorino poisoned her cats, the investigation revealed\nthat the cats were poisoned with antifreeze which led to their death.&nbsp;&nbsp; Fiorino was arraigned in Worcester Town\nCourt where he posted $500 cash bail.&nbsp;\nHis return court date is May 7, 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The State\u2019s financial health ended the fiscal year on a\n`Good Note, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.&nbsp; Figures released on Friday showed state revenue\ndropped by $3.7 billion, or by 4.7%, during the fiscal year that ended March\n31, yet March revenues surpassed projections by more than $800 million.&nbsp;
