{"id":6857,"date":"2019-03-15T15:26:47","date_gmt":"2019-03-15T19:26:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=6857"},"modified":"2019-03-15T15:26:47","modified_gmt":"2019-03-15T19:26:47","slug":"wcdo-news-friday-3-15-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-friday-3-15-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS FRIDAY 3-15-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Sheriff&#8217;s\nDeputies, State Police and the Stamford Fire Department and Emergency Squad\nresponded to a 911 report of a fatal hit-and-run vehicle-pedestrian accident on\nState Highway 10 in the Village of Stamford.&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThe Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, 24 year-old\nShannon German of Stamford was lying in the roadway when she was struck by a\ntractor trailer that continued traveling north following the collision.&nbsp; State Highway 10 was subsequently closed to\ntraffic for several hours for the investigation.&nbsp; The tractor trailer and driver was located in\nthe Schenectady area by State Police, who has been identified as 50-year-old\nPeter Baldauf of Delancey, who did not see German lying in the roadway and\nunknowingly struck her.&nbsp; Baldauf has not\nbeen charged in relation to the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Assemblyman Cliff Crouch has\nbeen named to participate in the budget conference committees, now that both\nhouses of the legislature have passed their budget bills:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Cliff Crouch 3-15-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The budget is due on April 1st,\nthe state budget office stated that the Senate budget would add 3.5 billion\ndollars to the deficit, the assembly bill adds unnecessary spending &amp; added\ntaxes to pay for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A town of Norwich resident was\narrested by the Chenango County Sheriff\u2019s Office for 2nd degree Assault.&nbsp; 20 year old Kyle Nowalk was arrested\nfollowing an investigation into an incident in the Chenango County Jail for\nallegedly caused physical injury to a victim within the detention\nfacility.&nbsp; Nowalk will appear in the Town\nof Norwich Court at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">============================= <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Town of Norwich resident was\narrested by the Chenango County Sheriff\u2019s Office for Aggravated Unlicensed\nOperation of a Motor Vehicle.&nbsp; 46 year\nold Leon Lamb was arrested following a traffic stop on County Road 32 in the\nTown of Norwich, Lamb was allegedly operating a motor vehicle with a suspended\nlicense, and he was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to the\nChenango County Correctional Facility on $1,000 cash bail. Lamb is to appear in\nthe Town of Norwich Court at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">====================================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials with Social Security\nreport that a scam reported in January is still continuing.&nbsp; The scam includes a phone call from someone\nclaiming to be from Social Security or another agency, thee calls can even\ndisplay the Social Security national customer service number, on the caller\nID.&nbsp; The scammer states that Social\nSecurity does not have all of your personal information on file, or needs\nadditional information so the agency can increase benefit payments, or that\nSocial Security will terminate your benefits if they do not confirm your\ninformation; none of These calls are from Social Security. Officials stated\nthat if you receive these calls, do not give personal information, hang up\n&amp; report the call to the Office of the Inspector General at 1-800-269-0271.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police and local law\nenforcement will conduct a special targeted enforcement detail this St.\nPatrick&#8217;s Day weekend to deter drinking and driving. The traffic enforcement\ndetail begins today and runs through Monday. Drivers can expect a number of\nsobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols, underage drinking and sales to\nminors details during the campaign. State Police will also be ticketing\ndistracted drivers who use handheld electronic devices.&nbsp;&nbsp; During the 2018 St. Patrick&#8217;s Day weekend\nenforcement effort, Troopers made 243 arrests for DWI and issued nearly 13,000\ntickets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rotary Club of Sidney will\nbe hosting a fundraiser Saturday for the Howard &amp;
