{"id":6830,"date":"2019-03-04T15:08:25","date_gmt":"2019-03-04T20:08:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=6830"},"modified":"2019-03-04T15:08:25","modified_gmt":"2019-03-04T20:08:25","slug":"wcdo-news-monday-3-4-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-monday-3-4-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS MONDAY 3-4-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo and State leaders have not agreed on the\namount of available revenue for the next state budget plan.&nbsp;&nbsp; The lack of a consensus will require that\nState Comptroller Tom DiNapoli must come up with an estimate by Tomorrow, which\nwill be used as the reference point for future negotiations on the budget plan;\nthe budget needs to be passed by the beginning of the fiscal year on April\n1st.&nbsp; Last month, the governor and\nDiNapoli announced tax revenues for the current budget were down $2.3 billion.\nThe Democrats blame much of the shortfall on federal tax changes that started\nlast year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 31 year-old\nChristina Townsend of Port Crane for 3<sup>rd<\/sup> degree Grand Larceny &amp;\nScheming to Defraud,&nbsp; following an\ninvestigation by Sheriff\u2019s Deputies and Broome Developmental Center staff into\non-going thefts from residents by an employee.&nbsp;\nTownsend is accused of engaging in an ongoing scheme while employed at a\nFranklin residential facility that resulted in the theft of more than $12,000\nfrom developmentally disabled residents.&nbsp;\nTownsend was arraigned at the Town of Franklin Court and was released\nupon her own recognizance pending future court proceedings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police Traffic Incident Management Unit responded to a\nfatal car crash on Interstate 81 in the town of Cortlandville this morning at\n6:43 AM, &nbsp;&nbsp;Troopers responded after a TLC\nAmbulance was traveling southbound responding to a call, &amp; they were\nslowing to make a U-turn with all of their emergency lights activated.&nbsp; A 68-year-old unidentified male from\nBaldwinsville was driving an SUV in the left lane &amp; struck the ambulance on\nits driver\u2019s side before losing control &amp; striking a guiderail.&nbsp; The ambulance crew responded &amp; found the\ndriver unresponsive, he was taken to an area hospital &amp; was pronounced\ndeceased.&nbsp;&nbsp; The investigation is still\npending; the name of the victim will be released at a later time. No tickets\nhave been issued at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services\ntoday announced the award of more than $5.1 million in funding to establish 14\nnew recovery community centers across New York State, and expand services at\ntwo existing recovery centers. Funding is administered by the Office of Alcoholism\n&amp; Substance Abuse and its fiscal partner, the Research Foundation for\nMental Hygiene.&nbsp; In the Southern Tier,\nThe Friends of Recovery of Delaware and Otsego Counties, will receive $350,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 25th annual Colorscape Chenango, the premier arts\nfestival in Central New York, will be held September 7<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; 8<sup>th<\/sup>\nin downtown Norwich. The application deadline for exhibiting artists is this\nFriday, March 8th. Colorscape invites Chenango County high school students to\nparticipate in the Billboard Art Challenge called \u201cArt Can Change the World.\u201d\nSubmissions are due April 26th, more information is available at 336-3378 or\nvisit colorscape.org. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delaware County Public Health Services and Friends of\nRecovery of Delaware Otsego will be sponsoring a Recovery Coach Academy &amp;\nEthical Considerations training during the week of March 25th-March 30th in\nDelhi and Margaretville.&nbsp;&nbsp; The 30 hour\ntraining covers the Connecticut Center for Addiction Recovery model for peer\nspecialist roles and responsibilities.&nbsp;\nThis Recovery Coach Academy includes all course materials. Scholarships\nare available, more information or registration is available at 267-4435 or by\nemail at sarah@friendsofrecoverydo.org<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 32 year old Michael Ide of Schenevus\nfor felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and Driving While Ability Impaired\nby Drugs.&nbsp; A trooper monitoring traffic\non State Highway 7 in the town of Worcester observed a vehicle with an\nequipment violation.&nbsp; A traffic stop was\ninitiated and the trooper observed that Ide was impaired &amp; his license was\nsuspended.&nbsp; Ide was released on\nappearance tickets &amp; was then turned over to a sober third party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police arrested 52 year old Frank Price of Sherburne\nfor Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .19%.&nbsp; Troopers were dispatched to a suspicious\nvehicle in the town of Sherburne, they spotted the vehicle stopped in the\nmiddle of the roadway, running, with its brake and headlights on and Price\nasleep behind the wheel.&nbsp;&nbsp; Price was\nprocessed and released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of\nSherburne Court on March 11th.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Delaware County jury acquitted Jeffrey Hitchcock of Sidney\nCenter Friday, for charges of sexual abuse &amp; endangering the welfare of a\nminor.&nbsp; Hitchcock had been accused of\ninappropriately touching an 11 year old female; the jury took a little over 4\nhours to find Hitchcock not guilty of the charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chenango Links will host a discussion with Chenango County\nBoard of elections Commissioners Mary Lou Monahan &amp; Carol Franklin this\nevening in Norwich.&nbsp; The event will be\nheld at Bohemian Moon at 103 E.
