{"id":6825,"date":"2019-03-01T14:43:47","date_gmt":"2019-03-01T19:43:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/?p=6825"},"modified":"2019-03-01T14:44:29","modified_gmt":"2019-03-01T19:44:29","slug":"wcdo-news-friday-3-1-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcdoonline.com\/localnews\/wcdo-news-friday-3-1-19\/","title":{"rendered":"WCDO NEWS FRIDAY 3-1-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">34-year-old Jason Pantone of Hyde Park in Dutchess County\nhas been picked up by Federal Authorities, in connection with envelopes\ncontaining a suspicious white powder being delivered to several buildings in\nNew York and Connecticut, including 2 in Binghamton last week.&nbsp;&nbsp; Pantone was charged with conveying false\ninformation and hoax, he is accused of sending envelopes containing a powder\nand a typed note that said &#8220;ANTHRAX.&#8221; one of those was sent to the\nSocial Security Administration office at 2 Hawley Street in Binghamton, another\nwas sent to the United States District Court office at the Binghamton Federal\nBuilding at 15 Henry Street.&nbsp; Binghamton\nfire department hazmat unit determined that the white powder in the envelopes\nwas not hazardous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Police report that 2 people were arrested after a golf\ncart from Fire Fox Resort in the town of Nanticoke was located in the town of\nMaine on July 3<sup>rd<\/sup> 2018.&nbsp;&nbsp; An\ninvestigation revealed that 23 year old Jordan Preston of the town of Union and\n27 year old Amanda McGovern of Whitney Point took the golf cart joy riding\nbefore abandoning it in the town of Maine.&nbsp;\nPreston was located on September 24<sup>th<\/sup> and was arrested for Criminal\nPossession of Stolen Property; McGovern was located February 21<sup>st<\/sup> and\nwas also charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, she was issued an\nappearance ticket returnable to the town of Maine Court on March 13<sup>th<\/sup>.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Animal Adventure in the town of Colesville announced that\nthe name of Tajiri\u2019s girlfriend is Johari, which means jewel in Swahili.&nbsp; Animal Adventure Park once again held a\npublic vote to name the giraffe; she is 14 years old and will be the mating\npartner of Tajiri once he matures.&nbsp;\nTajiri is a little less than two years old, his birth was viewed by\nmillions through the park&#8217;s YOUTUBE channel, his mother, April\u2019s has another\ncalf due this month<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hospice &amp; Palliative care of Chenango County will hold\ntheir annual &#8220;Camp-4-Seasons&#8221; on Saturday March 23rd from 9am &#8211; 3pm,\nat the Stanford Gibson Primary School in Norwich.&nbsp;&nbsp; Grief Services Coordinator Rachel Barletta\nexplains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Rachel Barletta 3-1-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barletta said that registration is requested by March 18th,\nmore information is available at 334-3556 or by email at\nrbarletta@hospicechenango.org.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo admitted that he\nis still trying to get Amazon to reconsider their recent decision to back out\nof their plans to open a 2nd headquarters in Queens.&nbsp; Cuomo said that he talked to CEO Jeff Bezos\n&amp; other top officials with the internet giant; he said that so far they\nhave not moved from their most recent decision to back out of the New York City\ndeal after local political pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Cuomo launched a Tax Fairness for the Middle Class\nCampaign to make the property tax cap permanent and cut middle class taxes\nagain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Cuomo 3-1-19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuomo said that he wants to reduce the rate for incomes up\nto $150,000, the rate is now 6.85, and this would bring that down to 5.5%.
