Governor Cuomo announced\nbudget amendments to the 2020 Executive Budget to ensure towns and villages are\nnot adversely impacted by changes to the Aid and Incentives to Municipalities\nprogram. The proposal would use additional sales tax revenue from the elimination\nof the internet tax advantage to keep towns and villages whole. Approximately\n$59 million in revenues for towns and villages are preserved through this\naction.    The State will also implement\nthe Internet sales tax requirements earlier, starting June 1 of this year as\nopposed to September 1st.  The\nelimination of the internet tax advantage is expected to generate $390 million\nin additional revenue for local governments.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

43 year old Charles\nGreen of Binghamton was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for\nparticipating in an area methamphetamines ring that brought crystal meth into\nthe Southern Tier from Arizona.  Green\nwas1 of 10 people arrested in 2016 in “Operation Hailstorm.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delaware County\nSheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 26 year old Philip Misner of Oneonta, New York on\none count Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd degree following a traffic stop\non State Highway 357 in the Town of Franklin. Misner was additionally charged\nwith Unlicensed operator, Speed over 55 zone, Operating a motor vehicle with\nregistration suspended or revoked, and was released on tickets returnable to\nFranklin Town Court at a later date.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delaware County\nSheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 36 year old Christopher Alvarez of Walton for 1\ncount of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, following an investigation into a\nreport of a child abuse in the Town of Walton. Deputies allege that Alvarez acted\nin a manner which was injurious to the physical, mental, and moral welfare of a\nchild less than 17 years of age, he was arraigned at Walton Village Court and\nlater release on his own recognizance. Alvarez is set to return to the Town of\nWalton Court on a later date for further court proceedings. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Cuomo signed\nthe Child Victims Act, which ensures those who abuse children are held\naccountable criminally and civilly and that survivors of childhood sexual abuse\nhave a path to justice.  This legislation\nIncreases the amount of time during which perpetrators of these crimes may be\nheld criminally accountable; Allows victims of these crimes to start a civil\nlawsuit at any time before they reach 55 years of age; Provides victims whose\nclaims have been time-barred a new opportunity for their day in court; among\nmany other provisions.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Town of Worcester\nresident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff\u2019s Office for one count of\nAggravated unlicensed operation, following a traffic stop in the Town of\nNorwich.  38 year old Shawn Finch was\nallegedly operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Finch was taken\ninto custody and arraigned in the Town of North Norwich Court where he was\nreleased on his own recognizance. Finch is to appear in the Town of Norwich\nCourt at a later date.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Town of Smithville\nresident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff\u2019s Office for Criminal\nMischief and Harassment; 29 year old Jarid Winner was allegedly involved in a\ndomestic dispute that occurred in the Town of Smithville, where he is accused\nof breaking multiple items and subjecting the victim to unwanted physical\ncontact.  Winner was remanded to the\nChenango County Sheriff\u2019s Office on $500 cash bail.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
