NEWS TUESDAY 3-12-13"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>SUNY Delhi Police and Delaware County 911 received calls at 9:15 AM indicating that a bomb had been placed in Evenden Tower on the SUNY Delhi campus and was set to explode within 45 minutes of the call.\u00a0 Officials evacuated the building all classes scheduled for Evenden Tower have been canceled for the rest of Today.\u00a0 Delhi Village Police, Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Delaware County Emergency Management Office and State Police have responded, with The State Police Canine Unit inspecting the building.\u00a0 Authorities said that the caller was very specific &amp; there is no reason to believe that any other building on campus was targeted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>State Senate Republicans have forwarded their own version of the state budget.\u00a0 State Senator Jim Seward comments:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Seward 3-12-13)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle believe that a state budget could be completed as early as March 22<sup>nd<\/sup>, 10 days before the deadline.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>The Alzheimer\u2019s association will hold a program in Sidney later this month, to discuss the 10 warning signs of Alzheimer\u2019s disease and what the latest research indicates about the disease.\u00a0 Ann Thayer of the Northeast New York chapter of the association will conduct the program:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Ann Thayer 3-12-13)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The program will be held on Thursday March 28<sup>th<\/sup> at the Realty USA office on Main Street in Sidney at 5:30, pre-registration is requested at 547-1650.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Oneonta city officials announced that Spruce Street, between Elm &amp; Maple would be closed to through traffic during normal working hours today through Friday.\u00a0 Officials said that a NYSEG Contractor was replacing a gas main; anyone with questions can call the Oneonta engineering office at 432-6465.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>The State Labor Department today released local area unemployment rates for January 2013.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state\u2019s unemployment rate was at 8.4% in January, with the private sector job count increasing by 102,600 in the last 12 months.\u00a0 Locally, unemployment grew to 9.8% in Chenango County, 10.9% in Delaware County and 10% in Otsego, largely due to the end of holiday season hiring in retail establishments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>State Attorney General Eric\u00a0 Schneiderman today joined 37 states in announcing a settlement with Google over its unauthorized collection of data from unsecured wireless networks nationwide. Between 2008 and March 2010, Google took photographs for its Street View service &amp; they illegally collected and stored emails, text messages, passwords, and web histories transmitted over unsecured wireless networks without consumer consent.\u00a0 Google has agreed to destroy the information, launch an employee training program to protect consumers\u00a0and they will pay a $7 million fine to the states involved.\u00a0 New York\u2019s share of the settlement is approximately $192,000.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>State Police in Binghamton arrested\u00a022-year-old <strong>Sean Rake<\/strong> of Binghamton for Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC result of .15% and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
