NEWS TUESDAY 2-26-13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State Police released more details about the February 19<sup>th<\/sup> town of Walton arson, with 2 murders and a suicide.\u00a0 Lieutenant Eric Dauber of the state police BCI unit said that police were summoned to the John Lockwood road residence to serve a warrant to Debra Sundstrom for failure to appear in court for \u00a0several counts of grand larceny, police heard 2 shots, where Sundstrom shot a dog and then her self, after setting the house on fire.\u00a0 Lieutenant Dauber said that they went to question Randy Sundstrom at the family address at 1884 South River Road in Walton, only to find out that he had not been seen in 3 years, his body was found last Friday in the backyard there:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Lt. Eric Dauber 2-26-13)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Lieutenant Dauber said that Dominick Bosco\u2019s remains were found at the John Lockwood road residence, he was likely killed 1 to 3 days before the February 19<sup>th<\/sup> fire.\u00a0 The investigation is continuing anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 561-7400.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Assemblyman Cliff Crouch is inviting constituents to join him at the New York 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Amendment Day in Albany Thursday, starting with a legislative day from 9:00 A.M. to 12:45 PM at the LEGISLATIVE OFFICE BUILDING and a rally in the West Capitol Park at the South Swan Street side, beginning at 12:00 Noon.\u00a0 Crouch told WCDO News why he opposes the NY Safe Act:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Crouch)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Crouch said that he expects hundreds to turn up Thursday in Albany to rally against the act, which he said was hastily put together by the governor as a knee jerk response to the Newtown Connecticut school shooting.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Veronica Taft of Binghamton was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, for the murder of her 2 year old son Lyric in December of 2010 in their Binghamton home, the toddler died from severe trauma.\u00a0 Taft was given the maximum sentence in Broome County Court.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>State Troopers at Troop C in Sidney arrested 48-year-old <strong>Allan Waltz Jr.<\/strong> of Sidney Center, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. The arrest resulted from a traffic stop on State Route 7 in Unadilla; Waltz was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Unadilla Court on March 11<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Price Chopper supermarkets agreed to a settlement with the state that will require them to change the way it advertises and promotes its coupons. The agreement followed complaints about a misleading coupon policy, where Price Chopper advertised that they accepted double coupons without disclosing important restrictions.\u00a0 \u00a0Price Chopper is now required to clearly and conspicuously disclose any face value limits on coupon redemption; they agreed to pay $100,000 in civil penalties and costs to the State.\u00a0 Price Chopper operates 79 stores statewide.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>State police have arrested 45-year-old Jose Gonzalez of Windsor following a 7-hour stand off yesterday on Bennet road in Windsor.\u00a0 Police responded to the report of a domestic dispute, where Gonzalez allegedly threatened 2 people with a rifle and barricaded himself inside.\u00a0 \u00a0Police entered the home and found Gonzalez hiding in a closet, he is charged with menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child &amp; faces court action shortly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments Wednesday in a case challenging the constitutionality of a core provision of the Voting Rights Act. State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman led a 4-state coalition to argue that the Court should reject the constitutional challenge given the important role that the Voting Rights Act plays in blocking and deterring voting discrimination.
