A Benefit is being held for Sidney native Jessica Archer Vis Sunday in Sidney, she is battling leukemia & money is needed for uncovered medical costs, travel and family lodging in the Buffalo area, for several weeks at a time, during the course of her treatment. The fundraiser will be held from 2:00 until 6:00 PM at the Elks Lodge on River Street in Sidney. Tickets are $10 in advance & $12 at the door; more information about tickets or donations is available at 337-8110.

\nThe Inaugural season of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies Double A Baseball team; begin at NYSEG Stadium next month. Team Spokesman Ed Saunders comments:<\/p>\n

Saunders said that the team is still affiliated with the New York Meets, the home opener at NYSEG Stadium is April 13th, and the season starts on the road April 6th.

The federal Every Student Succeeds Act that replaced No Child Left Behind, it is designed to give states more flexibility in how to measure school performance.

\nThis year is the 50th anniversary of the annual Binghamton Sty. Patrick’s Day parade, which will be held tomorrow through downtown Binghamton. The parade will start at St. Mary’s at 1:30 in downtown Binghamton and proceed along Court Street through the west end to Edwards street. A party will be held after the parade at Seton high school, until 6:00 PM.

The event is open to the public, and admission is free. Sidney High faculty and students will run this session. The Observatory is located behind the high school building.
